My husband and I had the most awful experience that I have ever had with a restaurant restaurant. First the waiter couldn't understand what we wanted. He gave us one menu. Secondly I wanted apple cinnamon chicken and waffles . He brought my husband's order waffles but I don't know what part of the chicken it was. I told him I wanted wings with mine. He then tells me there out of apples. I ordered pecan waffles, again they are out of pecan. I get a plain waffles. The owners wife comes out stating her husband left with a catering order and took most of the food and she told him not to take our order. Upon getting our receipt for the food which was hand written, they tried to over charge. The menu that was given had a different price from what they tried to charge. I asked to see the menu again it was a different price. I mentioned that all exchanges were argumentative. We wanted to pay with credit card only to be told cash only. Told we can use the ATM or one of us can stay while my husband goes to the bank. By now I'm boiling ?. The owner wife and whomever was working with her they both were very rude, nasty disrespectful. They took me there. Upon leaving we saw Lenell the owner I tried to explain my experience he was apologetic but I will never go back. In still angry ?

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time now. Their menu looks incredible. However the first time I went was in early June. I sat for more than 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. There were only 3 or 4 tables and most had nothing and were eagerly awaiting service. I couldn’t wait any longer so I went to Loui’s across the street. Today I went again. A little better at first. I got coffee, but no cream for several minutes. The waiter made several trips all over the place bringing only one thing at a time instead of thinking ahead and making fewer trips. There was only one other table with people seated. He looked disorganized and disheveled. My coffee was lukewarm and not very good coffee. I ordered corned beef hash and eggs. After 15 minutes or more with no warm up for my coffee, I was told they could not make the corned beef hash and eggs. Once again I had to go across the street to Loui’s to eat. I want to support local business. But the service hast to improve here otherwise they cannot last. Their menu looks awesome. I will give them one more chance. After that, sorry.

Both Google and the posted sign on the restaurant say that they are open from 8a to 4p today. I walked up to the door at 8:35 and it's locked. Completely dark inside. Waited around a few minutes and saw no sign of life.

The most incredible jerk skillet I’ve ever had! The shrimp and grits was also phenomenal. It required some patience to wait for our food but it was well worth it.Just so you know this is a real review, not everything in our order was perfect; we were fine with that. Please visit this restaurant so they stay in business! The food is amazing. Just give yourself extra time.

Giving a 5 star because its food is great . Yes , his establishment could use more help but he’s a black owner business doing it all ALONE so I’m going to ALWAYS uplift and praise a black man doing so. With prayer & time he’ll have a time & business will be booming and no time. Keep up the great up work , take everything as a lesson and apply it to become better.

Food is absolutely amazing! My sister has allergies and her food always has to be made special and even her eyes was closed while taking a bite! Thank you it was truly a treat!

This restaurant used to be amazing. I first tried this restaurant with my mother one Sunday after church. Although the old restaurant was small, the food was great! The owner and his daughter were very friendly. I was so happy with the first experience that I took my boyfriend to try it out at their new Forest Park location. I truly wish I hadn’t. The man who took our order was an older man who didn’t write down anything and walked away before my boyfriend could finish placing his order. He didn’t come to check on us the entire time we sat there until our food came. The food tasted fine when it came out but it took nearly 2 hours for it to do so. Mind you, there was only 6 people in the entire restaurant. Most of the items I wanted to order, we were told wasn't available. I hope this restaurant can do a 180° before the end of the year. I’d love to give them another chance because I know what they’re capable of.

Appreciate the effort. But owner needs to work on customer service desperately. Husband and me visited today, and I was put off by fact that you have to guess if your welcome to seat your self or wait to be seated? Oh, wait, staff is so short there is no one to greet you! The chef & owner was taking orders when we came in, first clue this will no be good! We waited about 10 - 15 min for water then 30min for food. Chicken & waffle & pancakes with egg & Sausage. Thought this is a bistro, right? Couple came in after us got there food before us, and the group before us are still waiting on there food!!!! Then bill was incorrect, no one writes down what you ordered, so know your food will be missing something! I would highly encourage owner to get a greeter and someone that really know how to run a restaurant! Will not be back! Other weird things that I don't have time to mention! Please review your operation!

This review hurts the most because as a black person who loves helping out black owned businesses this place isn’t it. When you walk in the place looked so decorated like it was close for a private event. The creamer for the coffee was thick condensed milk and I wish I took pictures of the food, the “very berries waffle” was overwhelming with sloppy berries, the plate was chipped the only tasty food was the catfish. The waitress wasn’t very observing, the people that came in after us left because either the services or the coffee creamer but this restaurant need to rethink about their customers instead of shining and loud music playing.

Today was my first time in here and I'm very glad I didn't go off some of the reviews I read. The food was very good and the service was great as well. The menu is vast and full of dishes that I'll be trying, because I will be going back. This is a VERY good restaurant with great food. Please don't go off the reviews take a chance and try it for yourself,you'll be SURPRISED!

New to yen neighborhood, Definitely one our new faves! Season to perfection! Coffee and home made creamer was definitely a hit. Grits were amazing! The fact that everything is made to order and they don’t have have it sitting there definitely deserves more than 5 stars! Shout out to the waitresses for taking care of us!

I love to support black businesses in this situation I would advise no one to eat there again. Today is mother's day I thought let's get some soul food. If I had read the reviews before I went I would've never went. My husband I experienced almost everything bad in the reviews when we first entered. Prices in the menu are not updated, food portions are small, food no taste or seasoning, most of all advertised soul food and no soul food. Wait period for take out was almost two hours, behind the bar area was a mess with items scattered everywhere. They need to do better. I would never go again
