I dont usually write reviews but it is not allowing me to respond personally to this Robert that left a review about the hostess. Robert, I happened to be there with my wife at the same time as you and saw exactly what happened. For you and your 3 other companions to berate the 16 year old hostess because she was doing her job and not allowing you to sit at a larger party table is terrible. She told you the bigger reserved table was for larger parties and you immediately went into a drunken tirade. I hope you wake up this morning and realize how awful you and your group were to this poor girl. You owe her an apology. Why do you think its ok to speak to a child that way? Was it worth it to make her cry because you couldn't get the table you wanted? You and your. group spent the better part of your meal talking poorly of this girl who was well within earshot of your conversation. Shameful. I hope you wake up today with a clearer head than you had last night.

Worst service ever - not from the server- but from the host, bartender and the rest of the staff.
If you are in the area, I’d recommend going anywhere besides this overpriced snobatorium. Total jerks.

I got sick because of this place. The ketchup and hot sauce bottles on the tables were so dirty that I literally experienced food poisoning. I should never have touched it!! This place should be sued. Nobody should go there—they are filthy.

8/27/25 - The best old fashion I’ve ever had! Excellent. Service was great. We stayed at the Carleton Hotel for 7 nights (attached to the property), and had a night cap here for 6 of those. Are there twice. The food was good and very reasonably priced.

You could walk by and think this place looks like a dive. It's totally not. We met some friends for lunch recently, and had a great time.
Our server was attentive and pleasant and helpful. She helped me pick out a beer and gave food suggestions.
My blackened catfish po' boy was incredible - a nice creamy sauce to compliment (counteract?) the spiciness; good bread. Our friends had recommended the place, and their recommendation was well-founded.
We found parking just up the street. Pleasant upscale-ish shopping area. While we ate inside (100 degrees that day), there's a large, welcoming patio with tons of tables.
SO if Phil's was within reasonable walking or biking distance of my house, he would likely get a good amount of money from me on a regular basis. There are many other items on the menu that I would like to try. Too bad we live in Michigan

Extremely slow, rude bartender. If you want a bottom of the barrel experience, like the hotel version of Chicago, come here.
Literally a 5 min walk in any direction will serve you better

Still an Oak Park stand-by, but getting a bit tired after many years. Here’s a radical idea— drop the sports theme. Mike Ditka on the wall? The man who said he was smarter than Obama? Really?

If you have special dietary needs, You may need to check your food when it arrives at the table. I asked for no tomato and after eating most of my sandwich found out the tomato was there. I don't think it was the waitresses fault I think it might have been a issue with the kitchen. But she should have double checked.

Love me some Poor Phil's located at the side end of the Carlton Hotel.
This restaurant is big and spacious with outdoor seating where they are dog friendly.
I didn't get the Lobster rolls this time but that's one of my menu selections.
The cheese fish sandwich and sweet potatoes will melt in your mouth.
Full sea food menu where you can get your oysters fix.
Full bar with several drink specials and beers on tap.
