Publican Quality Bread Oak Park

I've come here every few weeks since they opened for a loaf of sourdough - it's incredible, often still warm from the oven! They also have great baguettes in the afternoon, the coffee is high quality, and the pastries range from good to excellent. Cherry on top - the staff is kind, cheerful, and helpful.

I really like that they have a separate self checkout option for bread shoppers, it makes it easy to quickly pop in for a loaf even on a busy afternoon.

Amazing bread and pastries... The almond croissant is to die for... I hope they make galette des rois ,their frangipane is to die for! The feuilleté of the croissant is perfect and they must use real butter!

Yes it's expensive, but it's so good. Service is usually fast and professional and the food never misses. I wish they'd put the Comte back on the jambon beurre though!

Some really good sandwiches and pastries. Hit or miss on what's available when you order day of or walk in. Chicago location seems like better selections but good to have an option in Oak Park.

A bread bakery that loves sourdough ,just opened is just a pleasure of tastes, originality and classic mastery. Healthy, delicious. I hope it sustains without Insanity for years or at least one. Right now, genius loaves of bread you eat in the car before getting home

First time walking in here and I saw the breads and they looked amazing — but when I was about to buy, I found out it was only card and all I had was cash. I was so devastated because everything looks so delicious. I don’t know if this beautiful polite grow side on my face, but she offered for me to take one of the pastries still and that completely made my day. I will definitely be coming back, that pastry was amazing.

I have eaten at the Publican Bakery around 10-12 times in the last 12 months. The pastry items I have tried are the Kouign Amann, brown butter chocolate chip cookie, peach danish, and tomato and pesto danish. They were all excellent. I have also tried their pizza slices twice, the cheese pizza and a pizza with thin potato slices on top. The cheese pizza was very tasty and a little greasy, but that may have been the style of pizza. The one with the potato slices was too bland and I would not choose that again. Their coffee is always way too strong for me, so I have stopped ordering it. I have recently bought a sourdough loaf and had it sliced and have mixed feelings about it. I was disappointed that it was not sliced all the way through and I had to finish slicing the loaf by hand when I got home. There were also big holes in the bread, about 1/3 of the loaf had large holes. On the plus side, the sourdough bread was excellent, and I would definitely order it again. Overall, the bakery has very tasty food, and whatever food/service disappoints I have had in the past, I willl be returning for more pastries and bread.

The service was very good! Eleni helped me figure out what to order for a party and how much to order.
The veggie sandwich was very delicious. Big portions. Its a small but inviting atmosphere.
I didn't try the turkey but my friends enjoyed it.

Very nice place — the food is great, even though the sandwiches seem to be getting smaller over time. My main issue is with the staff. I visited on a Saturday morning, and unfortunately, the girl behind the counter was rude and had a very blasé attitude.

A little advice: if you don’t want to work, don’t take it out on customers. Nobody wants to deal with that kind of energy first thing on a Saturday morning. It really takes away from an otherwise great spot.

They have so many delicious bread options and they're made in house so that place smells amazing. They don't have a big ready food selection, but what they do have is good. I had a salad and it was really good!
