Spilt Milk is a staple of Oak Park bakeries/coffee shops. It has the best pies in the area. I also love their take and bake options, as well as their gift shop items. Some items seem to be underseasoned (especially undersalted). I also recommend not ordering cappuccinos here, as the baristas make them as a latte (I've tested this more than once just to make sure it wasn't a one-off issue). Otherwise, I'd recommend for pies - both savory and sweet - as well as pre-made...
I haven't tried any of their lovely desserts yet but we've gotten coffee and hot chocolate here a few times and it's always delicious! The staff is already very friendly and outgoing and other customers we've chatted with have been equally as kind!
First of all, the smell when you walk in transports you to memories I don't even have of sleepovers at grandmas with her famous chocolate chip cookies backing, back when we all had hope and dreamt of becoming cowboy astronauts.
