We were very disappointed in the meal. We have been before and our whole group was disappointed in food.
Always consistently high level service, impeccable atmosphere and delicious, beautifully presented entrees. We ordered the mussels and the orecchiette and both were well-prepared and tasty. Little Gem is a wonderful spot for enjoying dinner conversation in a lovely environment.
Great little neighborhood restaurant/bistro, with terrific service. One quibble: The roast chicken, which used to be a "destination dish," has declined in quality. Not the same "cut" as before, and almost completely flavorless -- none of the savory herbed, roasted quality we've enjoyed on two previous occasions. Hope they go back to the old way of preparing it.
We love this charming restaurant. The food, service and ambiance are always top notch. Live music on the weekends. Welcoming bar area if you want to stop in for a drink and live jazz.
I'm so sorry to complain...but it was just so loud. We had to have our sweet waitress repeat herself several times and could barely hold a conversation. Bummer!
I enjoy the food and drinks here, especially the half chicken entree, but the service can be really slow. I don't need to be overly cared for but it took over 10 minutes to be greeted and asked if we wanted anything to drink. Long time again before she came back and took our dinner order. Everything just felt exceptionally slow.
Went for dinner on Wednesday night with a friend visiting from Atlanta. The food was great, the restaurant is beautiful. Very quiet on Wednesday night. Took about 2 hours for our salads and entrees. We will be back.
My second visit and I can't wait to come back again!

Had brunch after my breast cancer awareness walk on 9/28/24. The little gem omelet and cornbeef hash was a hit with the group. The food was amazing! The atmosphere was spot on! And the service was impeccable! Even got a sweet treat on the house! Thank you so much, The Little Gem,for making this day a bit more special.

I accidentally reviewed this as a 1 star initially (this was a typo). It was a 5 star experience.

This restaurant is not open the hours that it states it is both on its own website and on Open Table. I made a last minute reservation on Open Table for 8:30 PM on Sat. based on their kitchen staying open until 9:30 PM and their bar until 11PM. When we walked in we were greeted with "we tried to call you because we are closing at 9 PM." (I didn't see the call/text). They tried to seat us next door at Encore, but they said they were already closed (at 8:30). We did stay, but we felt rushed. They did have people in the restaurant, so it wasn't that it was completely dead. Also, the air conditioning was blasting (and it was cold outside) and we asked for it to be turned down, but either they could not or would not do so. So we dined being cold and rushed. The food was actually quite good, but I probably would not return based on the hours that they are open. They really should correct their website and Open Table listings to reflect that.
Would go back if I'm in the area. Reconnected with friends I haven't seen in a long time. One of the was almost an hour late. We were never made to feel that we were there too long in waiting for the third person. Everything was so delicious. Everything was perfect. Ladies room was clean and your tp is soft. This IS a little gem.
Celebrated my wife's birthday here and everything was perfect! The staff and server were so nice and accommodating, the musician was also amazing. An unforgettable night for all of us, highly recommend to anyone looking to have an intimate dining experience with their loved ones.
Truly a little gem this small intimate neighborhood spot. The service was great, the food (sea bass, stuffed pork chops, pastas) was loved by our table of five. It impressed my hipster kids and was perfectly located between western burbs and Logan Square. I would eat here again anytime!
