I’m leaving this review for anyone considering Starved Rock Lodge as a wedding venue. When life happens, you will not receive compassion and assistance from this venue, and I would not recommend booking with them. Four months before our scheduled wedding day, my late mother-in-law received a terminal cancer diagnosis, which required us to push up our wedding. We were unable to bring her out to Starved Rock due to her condition, so we ended up having a microwedding near the hospital she was receiving treatment at. We informed Starved Rock’s team that we would be canceling our wedding, and we received no refund on the ceremony or reception fees. While I understand that we signed a contract, I was hoping we would receive some compassion in these extenuating circumstances. Even allowing us to apply our deposit to credits for a stay at the lodge or to bring our family to the restaurant would have been so appreciated. We lost about $3,500 from the deposits and are very disappointed in our experience.
Leinenkugel event Want to share my recent experience at the leinenkugel event. If no one says anything you cannot fix the issue. This was my first time to the event. I was very excited for it but was quickly disappointed. Very disappointing event. All the food was cold. Not worth the $85 a ticket for cold food. The buffet at a casino is much better and hot. Work is needed on your end to justify the cost for this event. I also seen the food wheeled to the event at 4:30. The event did not start until 6:00. The food was just in racks that were not warming racks. Not a surprise the food was cold. I would not recommend this event to anyone.
I cannot stress enough how much of a disaster our wedding day was at Starved Rock Lodge and Conference Center. They completely ruined what was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives. The food was absolutely atrocious, with my husband choking on the dry chicken and pork they served us. When I tried to address the issue with Jenny, she gaslighted me and claimed they hadn't received a food complaint in 15 years - a blatant lie. Not only did they ignore my request for all white chairs, they gave me black ones instead. The trolley driver was clueless and made us hike almost a mile in my wedding dress when they promised a much shorter walk. And to top it all off, they didn't even have the special mix for my drink special on the day of the wedding. The staff was careless, unprofessional, and only seemed to care about getting their payment. We were left completely in the dark throughout the planning process. It was such a nightmare that we are actually planning to redo our wedding on our anniversary just to erase the memory of this disastrous day. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Starved Rock Lodge for your wedding - you will thank me later.
Our room had a window that opened into the large indoor pool which stays open until 11 o’clock at night. (12 our time) We booked our room months in advance and were told rooms were “randomly assigned”. $190/ night!
This has always been a great place to eat in one of Illinois most scenic, historic locations

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants but never again. 2 of our party ordered steaks, 1 ribeye and 1 filet mignon. What was served was identical, 2 ribeyes. The waitress insisted one was a filet that had been butterflied. We are not idiots, it clearly wasn't butterflied and it clearly wasn't a filet, especially with all the fat on it. We agreed to keep it if it was corrected on the bill. She said "oh so you want to be charged more?" She lied and told us the ribeye was more than the filet. It was actually $2 less but we didn't argue. She then called the manager over who also lied to our face and said the filet was butterflied. We dropped it. Other than that all 4 orders of fries we had were old and tough. Tasteless burgers and fried chicken. We had to ask several times for the one scoop of plain vanilla ice cream we ordered. The gratuity was included for our table of 8 at whopping 20%, which was not stated on the menu. We paid with cash and were due change THAT THE WAITRESS NEVER CAME BACK WITH. Was she incompetent or a liar? Also it was pretty empty at 6:30 on a Friday evening, now I know why.
Keep up the good work ?

My husband and I both ate the Walleye filets. It was delicious and the staff were fantastic. We also had a wonderful breakfast here.
Stayed at the Lodge had had two dinners and two breakfast meals in the dining room. Food was good and fairly priced. Walleye was probably the best choice of all. Service was great - we were there mid week with a light crowd.

Poor service. Mediocre food. We were there last fall and had a similar poor experience. The outside seating area has great potential. It just needs some descent food, better service and a good cleaning.
Over-estimating my ability to hike, I waited for my family in the lovely lobby. I decided to get lunch while I waited. It was great. My server was attentive and friendly. I was not rushed and peacefully sat for awhile after finishing. My family was hungry and wanted to eat before going home so they joined me and enjoyed their lunches. The salads are very good. The fried chicken and pasta were good as well. The burger was tasty but I would make sure I ordered med rare next time.
Awesome dining room - breakfast was just what I was hoping for. Great portions, perfect bacon and eggs and the hot chocolates were also delicious.
This is the place to come, in any season, to admire the lodge, the views, have a wonderful meal and be taken care of by the friendly staff.
Just like going back in time! Original rustic decor in a lodge from the 1930s. Charming. The beds were surprisingly comfortable. The food portions were large & delicious.
