Disgusting that you'd let a dog at your bar. Dog's are trash. I'll remove my 1 star review when you stop this new trend of disgusting behavior. Dog people are absolute out of hand trash.

We had just finished church, and were looking for dinner. We hadn't been to La Vigna in a while, so we thought we'd go there. This place is south and around a mile east of Oregon. If you don't know where it is, use your GPS and you'll find it. It's a quaint location with low ceilings, good smells and good food. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted and then seated in the back dining room. The lighting is provided by sconces on the walls, and a lot of Italian lights strung from the ceiling. It's brighter than "romantic" by a little. The menu was interesting - we started with a grilled Portobello Mushroom which we shared, which was in an interesting sauce. I added some parmesan (shaker on the table) which made that even better. While we were waiting for that, a tray of warm bread was provided. Oil and shredded parmesan cheese were already at the table. Yum! Entrees are served with soup or salad - we both had the salad with Creamy Gorgonzola dressing, with the extra crumbles on top. The greens were very fresh, and the dressing was tasty. I went for their Filet Mignon, medium rare, which was served topped with mushrooms and marsala wine sauce. The steak was properly cooked to order, and was quite tender. My wife ordered their Scampi Picatta, which was loaded with shrimp and she said was very tasty. The wine list is a little light with 5 different "house" wine brands, but they did have two different upscale bottles - we went for the Pinot Noir, which hailed from France and had an interesting parchment brochure hanging from a ribbon on the label. For desert, my wife had a cannoli, and had their Raspberry Sorbet. The cannoli was authentic and tasty, but the Raspberry Sorbet was very good. If you like Raspberry sorbet, this is the place to get it. It was very rich. The place was pretty quiet noise level wise, We could hold a normal conversation. The floors are carpeted, which helps.

Excellent food. Great staff. Charming place. This has been a favorite of mine for more than 20 years. It continues to offer high quality food and great service. It's a lovely drive down from Rockford, too.

Old world charm, in a quaint, old style Italian restaurant. The menu is straightforward, the specials are always changing, and the food is always incredible. I recommend the house dressing on the salad, and all the pastas are stars! But if you can get there when they have the Steak Pizzaiola, it's worth it!Dietary restrictions: I have on more than one occasion seen them make a fresh sauce to accommodate alcohol free, or other concerns!

Our first time there. We had a wonderful time. Excellent food. The filet minion was superb ?. The soup was very tasty. Desserts are homemade. Service was great. Thanks for a memorable evening. We will be going again!!

My only complaint is that I'm so uncomfortable because I couldn't stop eating! Everything was excellent! I'll absolutely be back.

This chef-owned Italian restaurant is an unexpected gem far from the big city. The fresh, scratch made pastas are the star of the show here. The portabella mushroom appetizer was delicious, as was the fresh house salad with tomato and Gorgonzola. Fresh baked bread with olive oil was on point. For entrees-- I had the shrimp and scallops with capellini, mushrooms and red pepper in a white sauce - perfection! The wife enjoyed the Atlantic salmon in a delicious caper butter lemon sauce. Dessert was decadent but worth it-- homemade tiramisu and crème brûlée were both scrumptious. Service from Jane was helpful, friendly and always ready. Ambiance was fun in the main room, where the bar is; and romantic in the back room where we were seated. And the prices were very affordable for fine dining. Only thing I could nitpick is I wish there were a few more wine options. I only wish this place were not 4 hours from our Indy home!

We have eaten here more times than I can count. It’s always fantastic. Great food and great service. What more could want? The prices are reasonable as well.

I have been going here since before it was La Vigna ! Many decades ago it was called the 1890 Club and it was like that for over 40 years. This is one of my favorite restaurants, I have been going to this for many years. We know the owner and the staff and we have never had a bad meal here ever! The food is always great and the portions are very big. There is always leftovers for us to eat the next day. Fantastic crew that is always knowledgeable about every dish they serve. I love the fact that it is quaint and it's décor reflects this. This is one cozy place to eat at in the winter. Beautiful fireplace and excellent food and beverages. I can only give it 5 STARS but I would really give it 100 if I could !

Our waitress Grace, was amazing and very attentive. She brought our drinks as fast as they were made at the bar, and always came back with a smile. Didn’t hesitate when we asked for more bread, brought our salads out fast, and the main food dish was spectacular. We definitely will be back and we will be requesting Grace as our server again. See you next time!

No issue with the food. Food was generally good, so it merited an additional star. Service was absolutely disastrous and atrocious. Walk in the door. Two people behind the bar just stare at me. No, please stand over here and the host/hostess will be right with you. Then a party of five walks right by me, and are seated right away. I said to the person behind the bar, it would have been nice to have some indication where the host stand was. Response: they had a reservation. Then I am seated in quite possibly the worst seat in the house: right next to the dish cabinet. Everybody else can have a fine dining experience, while I keep getting someone coming by every two minutes to get new plates. Can't this be relocated to somewhere else besides next to paying customers? After being seated, the waitress finally comes over to my table a few minutes later. No, my name is and here are the specials. All I get is, "has anyone come by to serve you yet?" Oh, here's the drink menu. No specials. No warm and fuzzy. I mention this to the hostess/manager. I'm told that she's sorry that I had this dining experience and that a small percentage of customers feel poorly about their experience. Also, the restaurant is short-staffed. Not when the two tables next to me got a very different experience in the same seating. They got treated to the server's names and the specials. Fine dining for some, just plain dining for others. Unacceptable to be treated like chopped liver. Memo to management: all customers should be treated equally in 2023 and beyond.

Very nice little restaurant just outside Oregon, ILLINOIS. I had the Chicken Vesuvio. The chicken was tender, the peppers were soft but still crunchy and the potatoes were great. The service was very good. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely be back.
