We have had some great lunches here. Beautiful view and meals. Fantastic friendly owners and serving staff.
I had the triple decker turkey club. It was very good and it had to be the biggest club sandwich I have ever had.

Had to try out this Friday fish fry I kept seeing on Facebook. Boy was I disappointed. I got the all you can eat fish and my wife got the 16 oz New York strip. Fish was really old. Nothing was edible on the entire buffet. In fact, nobody checked on it the entire hour we dined in. So people are being fed hour old fried fish. The steak along with the rest of the food had no seasoning at all. Twice baked potato was uncooked. The cheese was not even melted in the middle. I have never wrote a review, but this was the worst food I have ever paid for. We will never return. I advise you stay away too. Such a shame. Beautiful location.
We had a group of six and we all loved it. It's a great way to just relax and enjoy yourself. The food was tasty and the owners were a joy to be around. $5 a beer was a little high, but other than that we have no complaints. Great for kids and adults. Thanks for having us and we'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately the food was just terrible. The only thing edible was the soup. Just poor quality, dried out and flavorless. Even the drinks were bad. Should have known when we walked in we were literally the only customers there.

Maxson Restaurant really came through for me this Mother’s Day, and they didn’t even realize how big of a deal it was. My parents recently moved to Rockford, and taking my dad, who has dementia, out to eat can be a challenge. So, I messaged them on Facebook for a reservation, going out on a limb, but they were booked solid. Even though it was booked, they offered to pack up some of their buffet for us to pick up (which I have never had anyone offer before). It was such a relief not to have to take my dad out, and they gave us tons of food AND IT WAS ALL AMAZING! Plus, they were super cool about accommodating my last-minute planning and changing my pickup time because of traffic coming from Chicago. Huge thanks to them! I’ll definitely be singing their praises to anyone who’ll listen, and Mom and I are definitely planning to dine in there soon. Seriously, thank you, Maxson!
We went there for dinner last night and it was absolutely awful. I guess our warning sign should’ve been that there was only one other table there when we got there. I feel so bad for the waitress we had as this was her second night on the job we went for the all you could eat prime rib, which was absolutely disgusting. It tasted like it had been sitting there for a week, and it was cold. We then went to the salad bar/buffet. The lettuce was slimy and nasty, and the food in the buffet had not been touched and also look like it had been there for a week upon discussing with our waitress how awful our food was she went up to talk to the staff and rather than a manager or the chef coming out to speak with us. They sent this poor girl back to ask us what was wrong with our food, she then went back and reported they then came back and said that they were going to take the prime rib off, but we were still charged $50 for two of us for that nasty buffet. I would not recommend this place to take my dog to eat very sad that such a beautiful building and such a beautiful setting has such a nasty food and poor management.

We came for the Valentines prime rib dinner and my girlfriend decided to get the steak and lobster instead as it tuned out , her steak must have been cooked while rancid as it smelled rotten and tasted the same . The rest of the food was nursing home quality at best . The decor was actually much like a nursing home .I remember the old Manor and this is nothing at all even close . The whole experience was disappointing and gross.

We just had our wedding at Maxson’s & we absolutely loved how open and easy the staff was to work with! We had our ceremony out on the deck & our rehearsal in the banquet hall. Both areas were absolutely stunning! We had a Saturday wedding & we were able to go in as early as Thursday and set stuff up (since the hall wasn’t being used) which was a huge stress relief for me! They let us be creative in our own ways for decorations, desserts, food menu & bar! They served us family style and we had plenty of food to go around & it was all delicious with great prices! Staff was there to assist us in anyways we needed while we set up, cleaned up and just about anything we needed or wanted they were more than happy to help us. I 1000/10 recommend Maxson for your wedding or other small event! We had around 80 people and the banquet hall was perfect for that size! With plenty of extra room for dessert, card tables and dancing! For weddings the whole area outside Maxson’s has great places for the photographer’s to take pictures with different scenic views! We got photos on the boat, on the deck, nature views and even a pretty field out front. The banquet hall with the wooden walls, lots of mirrors is also absolutely gorgeous with great lighting that doubled as a room for us girls to get ready in! Definitely will be coming back to Maxson’s for events in the future & the dinner cruises make for a great anniversary dinner ?(all photos taken on sight)
