Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

This establishment has gone completely down hill. We hadn’t been in a while because the food wasn’t that great the last time we were there either. We decided to give it a try because maybe things changed in the meantime. Wrong. Service was awful. Not attentive at all. Server kept glaring at us, sounded annoyed when we asked for a breakfast menu or a refill on our EMPTY coffee cups. When our food came out, the plates were piping hot (no warning before we grabbed them ourselves), the juice to the ribeye and eggs was all dried up on the plate. That’s how we could tell the plates were sitting under the heat lamp for so long. They also forgot my side order of sausage. When we mentioned the steak and eggs and sausage order being cold to the server, she grabbed it without saying anything as if it inconvenienced her… she then came back and said “How did you like it cooked again? Would you like to put in an order for it again? We can put it in as a rush order.” No thank you. We left. Never will be back!

I wanna leave a real honest review here as someone who’s been In the service industry over a decade. The older lady I got was super sweet however about 3/4 the way thru my meal she dropped off the check and said have a good new years. while I was still eating and my tea was needing a refill. But alright …that’s, I mean I would never do that but anyways I was really looking forward to having a hot chocolate and one of those Coca-Cola brownies at the end but she dropped off my check and never came back. Tea empty. No desert. She was kind to me but I’m not sure that’s a good way to serve. Likely won’t be stopping back here if there in such a rush to flip tables the people sitting at them are subjected to subpar service.

I visited the cracker barrel restaurant in Ottawa IL the food was good, there was no wait time to be seated. Our server was very professional and attentive with an exceptional personality.

A delicious, home-cooked meal felt relaxing after traveling for several days. The large, crackling fireplace added warmth and cheer with a romantic note to our evening. Our waitress was prompt but not overbearing. With the Southern style cooking and antique decor, it would have been easy to imagine we were in KY or TN, except for the Northern accents emanating from the other guests. Just for your info, if you order turnip greens, don't be surprised to have a generous amount of ham in with the healthy greens.

The only problem I had was the sunlight. I was sitting in the seat facing the window. The glare from the sun was ridiculous. I could not see my husband sitting across from me. The window shades need to be lower!!

The waitress was a little slow bring out our water and soda she brought our soup first

Young black lady waited on us. Was great and friendly. Jeot out drinks full and gave us an iced tea to go. Much appreciated on our quick stop to eat traveling from LaSalle to Chicago after picking up our books in LaSalle and headed to the MCACN show in Rosemont to sell them.

This was the first time dining at this location and was very happy to do so. Food and service was excellent. Also, we felt special unlike other restaurants offering same category of food. Of course, the gift shop is special too. A great experience, food and great value.

This doesn't always happen but we waited for 30 mins for our food. We had a couple of friends that were there after us and left just before our food was served. The server was great, but there seem to be some confusion in the kitchen. I guess it was the Sunday crowd.
