Awesome upscale beach theme. Cold draft beer and cozy atmosphere.
Oysters were excellent, as was the octopus. The lobster tail was overcooked. It is a very pricey item to cook badly and then serve. We were there meeting family because it's about halfway between where we live and we have loved our previous visits. After the meal we wanted to order desserts. We were told that we had to go next door to get desserts. Apparently, the owner opened a gelato and bakery next door and wanted everyone to go there for desserts. We are were told that taking our bill there would give us a 20% discount on desserts. We thought that was not a terrible marketing idea, so we went. It turns out it was actually a couple of doors down, not that big a deal. However, once inside, we discovered there was one couch and 4 stools for seating. That was the extent of what they could accommodate. There were already people seated so there wasn't room for our party. I wasn't going to eat tiramisu standing, and the seats were already taken. We were then told the discount only applied to gelato and not to any other desserts. That is why I rated the atmosphere and service low. I was treating the 2 businesses as if they were a single restaurant since that's they way they wanted to operate. Our server at Beach House was actually very good, but the experience was soured by the way It ended. We'll still be meeting in Ottawa but at a different restaurant.
Great food, I had the Halibut, was one of the best Halibut dishes I've ever had.
My boyfriend and I visited on Sunday, July 6, 2025. The food and presentation were superb and far-exceeded the expectations I had. The striped bass was undoubtedly the best we’d ever been served, and I am confused by any customers’ complaints regarding portion sizes because I found the portions to be generous and much larger than you’d find at other fine dining restaurants. My boyfriend and I don’t frequently go out for meals like this, so I took pictures of our food because it was like artwork, and I wanted to recommend the restaurant to friends. It took under 2min to take a picture of each dish.
I’m not sure if the hostess noticed me taking pictures and was annoyed by this for some reason, but while my boyfriend and I were waiting for the check, she came to our table and made a seemingly smart comment about he and I were on our phones “already” and how “cute” it was because assuredly we must be “texting each other,” as if it would be inappropriate to be doing anything else on our phones. It seemed like it was delivered in a snarky, condescending tone.
I was a bit taken aback because we were quietly having a great time, polite to the staff, appropriately dressed, arrived almost 2hrs before close and finished our meals and drinks with 30min to spare, hadn’t been on our phones much during the meal other than mostly to take pictures, and had briefly been on our phones – mostly to decide what to do after dinner and mindfully not on a phone call – before she came to the table and made the comment. We are both in our early thirties and she was a bit older than us, so I’m not sure if it was a joke that didn’t land right or if I misinterpreted the encounter, but it felt like she was chastising us as though we were a couple of young dumb kids. My boyfriend and I just laughed it off, but the remark felt unnecessary and out of place.
Besides that, our waiter was great, and the food truly is five-star worthy. I highly recommend this place to anyone, but as someone who has years of restaurant management experience including fine dining, I think comments like hers should be spared to avoid feelings of unwelcomeness or potential misinterpretations in any restaurant scenario and especially in a reputable business that is finer dining where we’re paying $150+ with above a 20% tip.
Went in for a late lunch on a Sunday. The menu was bizarrely Cajun themed and super heavy. It was 95 outside and the choices were jambalaya, and andouille sausage, red beans and rice which were somehow in almost every dish. One salad on the menu and again super heavy ingredients - nothing beachy or light or even green to order. It would have been a great menu for January in New Orleans. It was my second visit. On my first visit there were some wonderful salads, green vegetables and several grilled seafood options. I don’t know what happened. I hope they go back to their original concept soon. Super disappointing.
Food was amazing! A good date night restaurant as sitting is limited because it's smaller than it appears outside, but the food and atmosphere is worth it! They even have Mardi Gras themed fun, I believe on Sundays, haven't been yet.
Great atmosphere, Excellent food choices, Canadian Salmon and potatoes were excellent. Service was quick and very knowledgeable and friendly
I love this place! The food is always great. Great fish choices. Good oysters. Good wine selection.
Yummy, fairly friendly. Kind waitress
We have been to The Beach House a couple of times and the staff is great. Food is great, but our last visit we were very disappointed that dessert was served next door. We enjoyed a great meal, but we didn't want to have to walk next door to enjoy dessert. Very disappointed in this change. This is an upscale pricey restaurant, and I do not think serving dessert in the next building was a good change.

Four of us had dinner here last night for the first time. Food & drinks were great! Emily our waitress was wonderful and fun, very friendly manager as well. Can’t wait to go back for the Mardi Gras Sundays!

Nice place in the heart of Ottawa. The meal was good. My hubby enjoyed his, mine was a bit salty. The waitress must have had too many tables as she forgot to bring us water for most of the meal. Will be back to try again.
