A hidden gem on a side street in Ottawa that serves great food that reminds me of what my Grandma used to make. They offer a variety of soups, sandwiches, dinners, and desserts that are out of this world. Their deli is fantastic as well. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. The Cheese Shoppe and Deli in Ottawa is a must to visit!

The food has always been great, but the service upset me a lot recently. We ordered catering for a celebration of life, and were told we had to pick up at 3:30 since the order wasn't "big enough" for delivery. I went to pick up at the set time, and the name was wrong, but oh well, that's fine. I stand around for ten minutes and finally get told it won't be ready until 4:30, so I go back to the event and wait. We had someone else go pick up, and they come back just for us to find the order was a completely different order. We call, and they say they'll fix it if we bring the other order back! No way. They came with our food and picked up the wrong order, and the boys who did were very kind at least. This was a special event, so it was pretty upsetting that out of all the catering we got, the cheese shop messed up that bad. It set the event back by almost two hours.

We highly recommend The Cheese Shop for any Catering needs! Matt and team were wonderful to work with and always eager to please. They recently served our 200+ wedding event at our venue in LaSalle Peru, Illinois. The food was fresh, hot, and very delicious! Their staff also provided lovely service. My family has been in the restaurant business for 40+ years, so we truly appreciated this positive Catering experience! Also, their restaurant has lots of unique deli items, eclectic atmosphere with lots of cool history. Not easy to find these gems, so check this place out!

We ordered beef for pickup on Christmas Eve. When we got ready to warm it up before church, we realized the au jus had been left out of our order. We called the Cheese Shop, but they were already closed. Thankfully, whoever answered the phone offered to deliver it to us in Tonica. We were so appreciative, as this saved my husband from missing Christmas Mass to return to Ottawa. The beef was delicious, and we will definitely be ordering again!

First time we were here…visiting during a day trip and was quite surprised at old nostalgia surroundings and variety of products available!! We will be returning to area again soon ?
Ordered a chicken dinner here and it was pretty good. Takes about 30 minutes so probably call ahead.
Chicken was ok and fries were amazing. The bread given was basically inedible. Probably wouldn’t eat inside again, as having so many windows the dining room was uncomfortably warm. That and the atmosphere in general is pretty unwelcoming.
Overall though it does the job for what it is a food place.
