My husband and I took our baby girl here for breakfast while visiting from out of town, and we’re so glad we found this place! The exterior is beautiful, especially with the ivy changing color with the season and there are a few charming outdoor tables for dining.

Inside, the café has the most adorable cottage charm, with lovely French décor that makes it feel cozy and inviting. The food and coffee were both fantastic; we couldn’t resist ordering a French press, of course! We each had the savory crepe special and shared a French onion soup and a blueberry lemon muffin. Everything was absolutely delicious.

The service was wonderful, and we even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was so kind and sweet to our baby girl. She loved interacting with her!

Our experience was perfect from start to finish, and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.

What a delight! While on a Friday to Saturday visit to Ottawa, we discovered French Press. Decor and atmosphere: cozy, comfortable, pretty. Staff: attentive and answered our every question. The food: SUPERB! We enjoyed Italian soda(peach) and fresh made lemonade, delicious Quiche Lorraine and the best Ratatouille I've ever tasted (served in a crepe). Dessert was house made lemon curd wrapped in a crepe with diplomat creme and fresh raspberries. This chef has a passion and a gift! The experience was so good, we returned on Saturday for another meal before heading home.
We enjoyed the Quiche of the Day--
Italian sausage & giardiniera and Chicken Florentine....I wish we lived closer so we could visit regularly. Do yourself a flavorful favor and visit French Press!

Wonderful place for breakfast or lunch when you are in Starved Rock/Ottawa area. Great cup of coffee there too.

Very nice and cutesy restaurant. I ate the quiche with bacon, normalized onions and feta cheese. The Loraine, was the nane of the dish. best quiche I have had in years. The texture was nice and very fulfilling.

A very unpretentious specialty restaurant. The food is excellent, hot, and served timely. The menu is quite different from what you will find in most Illinois towns away from Chicago and this is not Cracker Barrel. Service was excellent from a personable woman who answered questions and gave explanations. Thankfully, this is an adult restaurant. Children will be bored and they’re not likely to want anything on the menu. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 2 hour brunch today. My only suggestion is to reduce the volume of the music.

Gorgeous space with delicious food. The owners are amazing. We will definitely return. My only regret is that we don’t live closer so we can come more often.

What a wonderful and elegant slice of French heaven. The crepes are light and delicious. The French onion was a perfect balance of subtle onion flavor bold cheese.
The chief came out to great us and ask how we were enjoying our meal. Such a great establishment. Highly recommended.
Next time I'm going to order the quiche!

The French Press is a real gem in Ottawa. Super cute French decorations and music. Great coffee, quiche (ready by 11), soup and so many delicious crepes - everything we tried was outstanding! Favorites: lemon curd crepes, the parfait (yum!) and any of the quiche. The owner/chef is there every day. We were here 4 out of our 6 day stay; there's no where else like it locally. We're over an hour away, but we'll make the trip for the French Press!
