I grew up eating here, I watched the Blackhawks win 2 Stanley Cups and the Cubs win the World Series here, I even moved out of the state at one point and any time I came to visit IL I never left without eating here but I had a negative experience a few months ago that bothered me so much I had to come back to write about it.
I was very excited about bringing my son here and showing him where his mom and I grew up eating however he has severe food allergies which prohibit him from eating essentially anything that's not meat and fruit. I ordered him a burger patty and wanted only the patty. Although he's only 2 years old he eats a full patty instead of one from the kids meal due to the fact he's not getting full on anything else. The server charged me for an entire adult burger meal although all he brought out was a patty with cheese. He could not do anything about it and I was understanding but he suggested I call to speak with the owner about it. When I called the owner he refused to do anything about it and stated that in the future they wouldn't be able to just charge me a la carte for the burger patty either. I grew up working in restaurant and know how simple this is to do. His lack of willingness to do so turned Gators from a spot I love to a spot I've had zero desire to go back to since. Really disappointing that this place went from a family tradition for me to a place I won't be coming back to much now and my son won't grow up in how I did.

This place used to be good! Now, the wings ( lemon , dry rub ) are flavorless and on top of it, the service is just terrible! Our server was a bit condescending and not very professional! Will not be going back there! My associate felt exactly the same way!

Been coming here since I was a baby. Love their food, recipe hasn’t changed. Mexican garlic wings are to die for. Love to see them busy.

Best wings ever. A word of warning, let them cool off a bit after they get delivered to your table. Sizzling hot!!! The sauces are to die for. They also have boneless wings too and other things on the menu. Great service, food taste is awesome, prepared quickly. Not cheap but well worth the price.

We just happened to be in the area but remembered gators wing shack from Waukegan and had to stop. The wings were just as good as i remember. I wish they cMe back to Waukegan but,i dont mind the drive.👍🏽👍🏽

The garlic buffalo wings are by far the best and the jalapeno buffalo sauce is fresh and tasty. I usually am a bleu cheese person but their ranch dressing is excellent and milky. Their wings are intimidatingly large and meaty so start out your order small.
