Panadería Ortiz Bakery in Peoria, Illinois is a true local gem offering an authentic taste of Mexico through both its traditional bakery items and savory homemade dishes. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the warm aroma of freshly baked pan dulce, bolillos, conchas, and other classic Mexican pastries that taste just like they came straight from a family kitchen. Their selection is wide, fresh, and full of flavor perfectly soft, sweet, and comforting. Beyond the bakery case, they serve delicious Mexican food including tacos, burritos, tamales, and hearty soups that are generously portioned and made with rich, authentic seasoning. The atmosphere feels welcoming and community-oriented, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Prices are affordable for the quality and quantity you receive, making it a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or picking up pastries to share with family. Overall, Panadería Ortiz Bakery stands out as a must-visit place in Peoria for anyone craving genuine Mexican food and baked goods made with care and tradition.
Great little spot! Got some tamales for the family, excellent food, and service was great as well. The man at the counter was very friendly.
However! I ordered online originally and found out at the store that they do not own that website! So if you want to order call it in DO NOT use the website.

Unbelievable authentic food. The bakery items are so delicious. Just a fantastic place to have lunch. If you sweat easily like me, get it to go because it is HOT inside. The burritos with beans and rice are the best I've ever had.
WOW! What a little hidden gem. Lunch for three. We had tamales, tacos with beans & rice, another had the HUGE burrito. Clean & small menu. They carry authentic Mexican soft drinks, HUGE pastry & dessert selections. Prices are VERY reasonable, and our host was the owner's wife. Food & service was very prompt. The sauces were warm, not too hot or spicy. We did ask for chips, although in the future (soon) I will order a chip & salsa with my meal, as I LOVE C&S! Cute little off the grid place in the heart of Peoria North Side!!!!
Good people great breath

Friendly atmosphere, kind service and the best, moist and delicious milk cake. First time visiting and not the last. :<)
The place looks neglected, dirty, a fly inside the bread cabinet and the slices of cake we bought were no longer useful.
