We were staying in Murphysboro to help our son move into SIU and found this place on Yelp. We weren't sure about going because of some of the previous reviews, but we went for it. We are extremely glad that we did! The vibe and quality of the food was outstanding. We had the all-you-can-eat fish fry and the smoked chicken. Definitely get side of the broccoli salad and the potato salad. Fantastic! For our appetizer we got onion rings. Some of the best we've ever had. If you're looking for an authentic BBQ/country restaurant where the people are relaxed and down to earth, Mase's is the place for you. We can't wait to come back!

Food had very little flavor. We got the sampler and the ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork all had just the flavor of the base meat. It was really disappointing food-wise, and the sides you could tell came from canned goods and were also mediocre. Would recommend most other restaurants in southern Illinois over this one.

Smoked pork steak was way over cooked. Very leathery and though. Ribs were also very dry. The bbq sauces were awesome! The spicy one needs some chicken wings on the menu! Service was very good. Stay away from slow cooked meats if you’re used to juicy bbq.
We ate outside on the patio. It was a fun evening watching the ATV s pull up and everyone enjoying good food. The atmosphere was the wooded setting all around us.
