“There are many excellent wines and wineries along the Shawnee Wine Trail. Hickory Ridge in Pomona is a favorite! We bought a mixed case of wines because it was too hard to choose just one! Thank-you to the owner who guided us through the tastings of their varietal selections.”
“The food at Aban is excellent. We ordered chicken and beef shwarma w hummus and pita bread. The food was perfectly seasoned, prepared and very fresh. This is the best hummus i have ever had. Portions are huge, we could have easily shared one dinner and the pita/hummus. Glad we got two because we had two tastes to share, and, well, leftovers! It was a great value and a wonderful meal. Will return!”
“My brother and sister-in-law were visiting from where they have made their home In Dallas, TX. All four of us grew up in Southern Illinois so we were interested in trying a bourbon bar in Alto Pass. We were not disappointed. I am not a bourbon person but the blueberry lemonade made with blueberry whisky was delicious. We had herb crusted goat cheese which was delicious. My sister-in-law and I shared red velvet bread pudding with whiskey sauce. Unbelievably good. The surroundings are comfortable and charming. The staff is friendly. I will be back.”
“Found this great breakfast cafe Monday morning after a terrible nights sleep at nearby hotel due to loud trains and trucks running all night. We needed a good breakfast but we slept in a bit late and just missed the hotel breakfast buffet that closed at 9! Then discovered that all the other nearby breakfast joints were closed on Mondays! Almost gave up on a decent breakfast and stumbled on Harbaugh’s a very unassuming looking place from the outside in a dead retail zone on a Monday morning. What a great find! Lively inside, with friendly staff and great tasting breakfast! Thank you for being there when we needed you most and had almost lost hope!Parking: In back.”
“The best coffee shop in the area! Family owned! Great friendly service! Top quality beans roasted to perfection. Many varieties of coffee to choose from. The drinks at the coffee shop are out of this world!”
“Awesome carry out Chinese food! A quart of Pork Lo Mein and two egg rolls comes to $16.99 with tax. Enough for dinner for two and leftovers. Their food is always fresh and delicious. I order at the counter and it's ready in under 10 minutes! Highly recommended. (The plateful in my picture is 1/4 of a quart!)”
“Came for pizza after watching the eclipse and the poor place was getting obliterated. There were so many people but the staff was friendly and was working hard to get it done. The pizza wasn't my favorite but I'm picky and it's definitely me not them. I loved bringing home the cups as souvenirs.”
“Just looks like a food truck, but the woman was super nice. Food smells and tastes amazing, and it's nice to have Korean food while far from home (I'm from Chicago). I ordered the bibimbap and kimbap”
“Went to the Iron whisk on a Sunday. We went early got there about 920 and waited an hour. We knew ahead of time we would have to wait and we were good with that. The Iron Whisk is very small I think there was a total of 13 tables. I had the train wreck breakfast sandwich and my husband had the wake n bacon. Both were so good. Even tho we had to wait awhile we said we would definitely go back. If you plan on going to the Iron whisk check out their website as it tells you to expect a long wait and they don't split checks.”
“Love. Came into town for the eclipse, and stopped here. Very good burritos and tamales, very reasonably priced. They have lots of different things in the shop, but IDK what they were because I was too distracted by the amazing hot food. THANK YOU! GOOD PEOPLE.”
“What a quaint local diner type. Owner helping and such a great friendly feel. So many options and daily specials! The service was delightful we will be regulars here for sure! Nice size omelette too!”
“"THE DUCK" is an unexpected pleasure, filled with friendly patrons and staff.Try it once and you might just make it one of your regular stops.Leave you tuxedo at home for this unique venue.Jeans and casual clothes are almost always what you'll want.Check with staff for special events.”
“We ordered Cafe Misto. The drink was good and the baristas were very friendly. We also had an almond croissant which was really good. Great place to relax and have a coffee. Clean restrooms for customers.”
“Delicious gluten free options available. I tried the Italian sandwich on gf bread and the small power salad. Super filling and wonderful portions that I only needed one or the other next time.Parking: .50 got me 2 hours of parking”
“Great atmosphere for a quick snack, warm coffee or hardy lunch. Good for individuals or families. The interior is bright and inviting giving the older building a great new look. Just wish Faye' was in my hometown!!”
“We were on a family outing and decided to surprise our kids with some ice cream. Googled “ice cream near me” and this place popped up. Looked pretty awesome and different so we decided it was worth the extra drive. It was beyond worth it. The flavor options were amazing and delicious, and the service and atmosphere was exceptional. The owner was so friendly, our portion sizes and the price was unbelievable for what my family actually got. My kids were sooo excited and the whole experience was fantastic. I would recommend Small Town Scoop to ANY and EVERYONE ❤️❤️Kid-friendliness: Wonderful place for kids. The owner was so patient with my children as they ordered and offered to let them try anything they weren’t sure about so they got exactly what they wanted. ”
“This is a small local pizza place with the look and feeling of a old-time diner. The staff was very friendly, service was quick, and WOW, the "cheese bread" was enormous ... basically, a large cheese pizza! :-) My wife and I split the cheese bread, and shared a large pizza, and brought home enough leftovers for us each to have another meal a day or two later. Pricing was fair, too. We recommend Whiffle Boy's Pizza !”
“Neat place. I wish the website could be updated to include use of a coupon/promo code.Vegetarian options: About 11 vegetarian toppings can be selected.Parking: 11 spots.”
“This is my favorite place to go to when I need somewhere to chill out for a bit. They have good quality drinks, good service, and good Wi-Fi. The employees are really kind and friendly as well, I highly recommend this place!”
“Amazing spot to get vegan treats! The service was extraordinary. I brought my three young boys for cupcakes and was treated with so much empathy and kindness and respect. It really made my day. Definitely will be back!”
“A jewel in Carbondale! Love so much about this place: the cozy but sophisticated atmosphere, the efficient and friendly service, the focus on local ingredients and innovative dishes. Highly recommend the best salad and the giant pretzel as appetizers. Great cocktails and beer selection.Hope to come again if we're in Carbondale.”
“Passing through and found this awesome place. Had the country omelet and wife had banana oatmeal. Fantastic! And their homemade hot sauce was so good I bought 2 bottles.”
“My grandfather helped build blue sky back when it was made. He is an amazing builder and grandfather! I come her rarely, since I’ve moved away from the area but I love it! Lots of great memories.”
“I have been going here since I was 17. I'm now in my mid fourtys. This by far is the best stop for gyros, jalapeno poppers, cheese burgers ECT... If you want a great food experience here is the place !!!!!!!!”
“The Producer was here…From the NW side of Chicago. The difference is, you’re far away from home, you aren’t familiar with your environment, and cooks have different cooking styles. The little details are what make the same food taste different. Anytime you have a new experience, you’ll experience some uncertainty. Thank you, Notcho Fries, for the delicious take-out options.”
“I have visited here four times and it has always been an enjoyable experience. Lately, the service is a bit lacking, but that may be residual from the covid lockdown. They are missing some wines they used to have that I loved, which they did not replace with anything similar. The tables are very close together so that you are obligated to talk to your neighbors- perhaps that is part of the ambiance? However, people have to move their tables over to let others move from their seats when they go to the bathroom or leave for the evening. It seems excessive. The prices are high enough that they could remove some seats for their visitors to be comfortable.”
“Online menu prices outdated, but it was still affordable and delicious. Service was great even though it was very busy. Definitely going back.Parking: Departing lots of cars which is a good sign. It means good food.”
“Stopped by this winery later on a Saturday. They had a line for tastings and flights so we got in line and patiently waited. When we got to the front of the line, we were told they weren't doing flights or tastings. They really should have a sign somewhere that states that so we could go to the purchases line instead. The staff did let us sample 2 so we could decide what we wanted. They also have a lovely seating area outside where we got to enjoy some live music.”
