This is our second time doing this wine trail with a shuttle driver and it is a great weekend away! Wrightway provides a great driver that knows the area and we get to chat with people at each winery. There are some delicious wines available here and some good food, too.

This was an extreme disappointment ! On a recent trip from New York City to Santa Fe, NM we made it a point to visit wineries along the journey. This group of businesses is impossible to find, except for the deceptive sign off of the I-57. We never were directed to any winery and finally ended in a town of Anna, Ill where an very helpful optometry center provided a map, but could not give clear directions. We finally hit upon one of the wineries and went in to be greeted by a snarky clerk who seemed annoyed to be taken from her other task (bothered by a customer). At this point, with an hour of searching behind us, we were no longer interested in tasting the product. If you are local this may be a hidden treasure, but as a long distance traveler avoid the temptation to stop.

My husband and I just spent the most fabulous weekend enjoying our stay and cannot thank the association enough for their generous prize. This cluster of wineries in Southern IL is a hidden gem for wine enthusiasts. There are a series of establishments within a half hour drive of one another on a picturesque winding road. Don't expect the large wineries of California, these are small, gently cared for establishments that serve award winning wines. Stop by any one of them and you will find a map to help you find them -- a necessity since they are all nearly hidden in the winding roads. This handy map also provides a list of the wineries with information concerning hours during all seasons.
