I tried ordering food and even gave the waitress my credit card number for a delivery order… I never received my order and the waitress who took my order never called me or anything about my delivery… Basically waited 4 hours for no reason and no update

I was motivated to write this review so I can remember this place the next time I'm in town.

Kind of your typical dive bar but with a surprisingly elderly clientele. At least one the day I was here. I'm not usually a fan of live music but it was pretty good.

I had a burger and it was we quite good and worth it alone but oh my God the onion rings! Amongst the best I've ever had!

Can't wait to come back the next time I'm in the area.

Edit: as promised I came back about a year later. No old people or live band this time but still great food and service and my new home away from home.

Michelle was absolutely the best! We had so much fun even though we lost a friend there... I hope he is ok! If you see Steve let us know we miss him!

Very good food with reasonable prices. Had the pulled park (delish). Others had skirt steak sandwich, fish and chips, meat loaf, turkey club, chicken sandwich, hamburger. All said their food was very good. Parking lot attached. Nice bar area and slot machines. Saw a comedy/ singer entertainer which added to a fun evening with our large group. Also they give separate checks! I would definitely go there again.

10 out of 10 – A Must-Visit in Prospect Heights!

This was my second time visiting, and I’m just as impressed as the first. Michele is absolutely outstanding — she’s the kind of bartender that makes you feel right at home. On my first visit, I had the Ahi Tuna Salad, which was fresh and delicious. The second time around, I tried the Salmon BLT along with a Lemon Martini and an Apple Martini — all of which were fantastic!

What really stood out was Michele’s incredible memory and hospitality. When I came back, she remembered my name and even my previous drink order. That kind of service is rare and truly appreciated. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff makes you feel like part of the family. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner today, who was just as kind and inviting.

At the end of the day, it’s the people that make a place special — and this one nails it. The food is the cherry on top. If you’re anywhere near Prospect Heights, you have to check this place out. Highly recommended!

Add balsamic to the truffle fries! Cheesecake could have been better but the rest was great.

This place is great. You got a big portion of food that you order. I love the chicken noodle soup. It was the best!!! Our server was very good and friendly. It was videoke night (Thursday) when we went there. People are nice. Will go back again.

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!!! My husband and I moved to the area a few years ago and since we have found this place, we rarely go anywhere else. He had a kidney transplant and is extremely particular about what he will eat and Union Ale House ALWAYS accommodates! Michelle, who is honestly, the most amazing bartender, knows our orders by heart. She welcomes EVERYONE and makes us all feel like we’re sitting at Cheers! The atmosphere is so friendly and the patrons all become friends.
The only time I am bummed is when Michelle isn’t working…

I am changing my review of this place. I come from a bar background so I understand the lay of the land. Typically there are insiders and outsiders and really that’s no different than any job. But typically bartenders will still take care of people who are at their bar. I will say that before the owners changed there was a mutual exchange in that I am a regular but I am not looking to be an insider. Just want a place to rest, eat good food and hang. All of the female bartenders except Lacy have totally given up professionalism. About 2 months ago I ordered fajitas and Rosie was the bartender. Since the new owner took over she became outright rude. I didn’t tip AT ALL because of this. Luckily because I’m nervous about fraud, I only move what I spend over from another account. When I left she attempted to put an approximate tip of 15ish dollars on but it declined. I didn’t say anything. I was never rude to her but her regulars don’t like me and for the most part it’s mutual but we are adults so that shouldn’t matter. This is a small town and the food is good here. The karaoke is fun. I’m a singer so I love it but I always have to call and see which bartender is working because if Michelle is working she will not only directly insult me but after I order she will stop and talk to one of the other bartenders and then go out for a cigarette before she comes back and smirks at me that she is aware she can get away with anything. With staff like this I would honestly keep an eye on the numbers because it is apparent that the bartenders run the new owner which it wasn’t like that with the previous owner. There were lines that were not crossed. Now there are no lines. And I have heard from clients I sent here. Only 2. They didn’t get the best service but they thought perhaps they were short staffed. I watched the bartender Jen make someone at the bar feel absolutely terrible when she ridiculed him and said that Union is a special place and if you act right you can sit on the big comfy couch with them. I wouldn’t bother writing this review cause this seems to be bitter small town long time friends shenanigans and that’s just what it is. But this is a big tech town with Discover people coming in and conferences major surrounding hotels. So the food is absolutely outstanding but you just never know what kind of service you will get. I would highly recommend unless you have my thick skin just ordering from here. And to be honest, I’m not so sure the regulars even like each other. Small town shenanigans… 🦃
