I would give higher rating because the food was good and authentic, but the service wasn't good. The chips and tomatillo salsa were good, but 10 chips and a few tablespoons of salsa doesn't go far with 5 people. If you order water, they will bring a bottle and charge you for it. Ran out of tortillas and ended up eating the food without them. Once the food was served, we were on our own and got no attention. Price was an issue and a friend told me they won't go there without a "groupon"...which I would agree with IF we decide to go back. Otherwise It was ok.

This was our first time at this restaurant. My feelings about this restaurant are mixed.
The waiter was nice. I unfortunately did not get his name. I think our experience is lack of understanding the culture. We tried to order tacos on the flower tortilla instead of a corn and I don’t think he understood he said yes, but we still got corn tortillas. That was fine. They were good. The food is very good. But then we ordered Water and he said they don’t have water you had to buy bottled water. I am in my 60s. I have never been told. I cannot have a glass of water at a restaurant.
I will say again the food was good. When we were done, he brought over a little handheld machine in his hand and told us our total, he never even gave us a bill. Again, I have never been to a restaurant where they don’t hand you a physical check so you can look at it and see what you ordered and what you will be paying for.
He told my husband the total and my husband paid it, and that was it. I never in my entire life would ever pay for something I didn’t physically see with my own eyes that I was being charged properly for what I ordered. The amount sounded right so I didn’t say anything, But like I said, I would never have paid without having a receipt Physically in my hand. It’s just not proper business. Plus, I save all my receipts for my expenses at the end of the month.
As much as I enjoyed the food, I don’t know if I’ll be back. I should be able to get a glass of water and I should be able to get a paper check in my hand.

I lived in Lyons next town over and I cant believe i never found out about this place. Atmosphere is great, service was great but the food is 100% authentic mexican food. My fish tacos(talapia) were the bomb, my wifes Torta was the same, and everything tasted so fresh. For the people in previous reviews complaining about the service, i personally didnt care waiting the 15 minutes for my food. Worth every penny and the wait. Thanks Roberto for the great service as well! Will be going back

I had an amazing experience at La Estancia! If you're craving authentic Mexican cuisine, this is the place to be. The service provided by Roberto was exceptional - he went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was enjoyable. The margaritas were incredibly delicious, especially with the added bonus of happy hour prices. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely and we felt warmly welcomed from the moment we walked in. I highly recommend La Estancia to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience.

I visited on this past Saturday night with my boyfriend. Ill start off by saying the neighborhood isn't too friendly of black ppl. When we got out of our car to walk across the street to the restaurant we got long stares from everyone who didn't look like us. We walked into the restaurant and it was extremely hot on a 93 degree day . We had to ask for basic things like water and napkins. They served us water in baby size 8 fl oz bottles with no refills. The waiter was ok but seemed as if he was in a rush for us to order. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and beautiful and the food was amazing. I really enjoyed my food , the alcoholic drinks were watered down we did not taste a bit of liquor in either. I would give 5 stars but the unwelcoming neighborhood and lack of importance for simple things like water, napkins and how hot it was in the restaurant. I will not be returning to dine in anytime soon. Thanks for the good food though!

I was disappointed not to be greeted when walking in. There was a lady who was not friendly; we sat down feeling sour. We thought about leaving for another place, but then, the waiter came from the back, greeted us, cleaned our table, and took our drink orders. Then he came back with chips, salsa, and our drinks. This made us stay and enjoy the atmosphere. My tacos and the salsa verde were delicious!!!! You must try the salsa!Overall, it was a great experience and I wanted to thank our waiter as he went above and beyond to serve our table regardless of how busy he was. ? So far, this will be the new taco stop.
