Chilangos Authentic Mexican Cuisine

Dine in or carry out food is always excellent along with great service.

Walked in to try the food. From the outside it looks like a chain restaurant, almost like a cilantro... but this place has real authentic homemade flavors. I order some steak and alpastor tacos. My wife got the chorizo pambazo. The flavor was great.tacos tasted like authentic street tacos. The alpastor with the pineapple was good as well. The pambazo was great, the bread needed to be a little more crispy/toasted but other then that it was great. The location needs some music.. it was very quiet. Service was friendly and attentive. Will forsure visit again and try a dinner plate.

Sorry I didn't find them sooner. Great food at a decent price. Clean with good decor and comfortable booths. The Bistek a la Mexicana was tasty, with a perfect amount of heat. Great homemade tortillas

Shrimp ala kora are super delicious. The quesabirrias are also very delicious.

So I moved here from Oklahoma City and what I find is most of the mexican restaruants here are americanized with no flavor. But this place the flavor notes hit!!! Spot on!! and I mean Delicous !!! leaving me wanting more. I cant wait too try more. However i read many of the reviews with hospitality leaving negative reviews. My thoughts you have a great product dont screw it up with your hospitality. Your food was bomb!!

Had them cater my baby shower and everyone loved the food! Everything was cooked/made freshly and perfectly! Highly recommend!

Chilango’s on Harrison has quickly become one of our to go spots. The food here is genuinely tasty, and their ceviche stands out as exceptionally fresh. For the portion size, it’s very decently priced compared to other places in town.

One of the highlights of our visits is the guacamole—they went above and beyond to make it fresh for us, which adds a special touch to the meal. Additionally, their sopes are delicious and worth trying.

The service is friendly, though it could be a bit more attentive. Despite this, we’ve been satisfied every time we’ve dined here and wholeheartedly recommend Chilango’s for anyone looking to enjoy some great affordable seafood, guacamole and sopes! We will come back to add more and we try other items in their menu.

I was very excited to try this place as my coworker recommended it. However, they were very greedy with the portion of meat in the tacos, they were missing couple of my tacos from my to go order (didn’t apologize), and they were very slow and very very pricey for what they offered.

Absolutely won’t go there again.

I picked up an order with several items and when i got home opened my “shredded beef quesadilla with no onions” to find a ground beef with onions. I called and stated the issue and the woman who answered right away said “ you ordered it with everything” i said no i didn’t, i told the man who took my order no onions. Then she says oh a man took your order, realizing she right off the bat accused me of lying to her about an order she took. She then takes ten minutes of talking in the background to tell me the person who took my order is gone and they cannot do anything about it. She never clarified if the call shredded beef ground beef so I still assume i was given the wrong order with onions, treated rudely and then made to just keep a 12$ quesadilla I did not want. Such poor customer service.

I really wanted to enjoy my visit to Chilangos in Rockford, but my experience left much to be desired.The Shrimp Ceviche was the highlight, tasty indeed. However, the lack of options beyond serving it on a tostada, coupled with a stingy serving of avocado, was disappointing.The birria tacos and consomé were flavorful, but the meat was awkwardly lumped in the center of the taco, which made for uneven eating.The wait staff, while friendly, seemed disingenuous, as if their hearts weren’t in their work. This might sound harsh, but it felt noticeable.Our server wasn’t managing many tables, which should have allowed for attentive service. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. We found ourselves running low on drinks and chips & salsa without timely check-ins and had to ask for essentials like napkins — a necessity given the messy nature of ceviche tostadas.When our rice and beans finally arrived, they were poorly presented. The rice looked like it’d been sitting out too long. There were messily wiped bean smudges around the plate edges.Overall, the restaurant seems to lack pride in its service and presentation, focusing more on profits than on providing a welcoming atmosphere. It’s decorated nicely enough but lacks soul and care.I might consider getting the shrimp ceviche again if it were available in a takeout container, not just on a tostada.

Well, where do I start at first the food was OK and then the hospitality and customer service became poor. I was served cold rice. They never give you any silverware. I guess they expect for you to eat out your hands if you’re black. After two months of patronizing here’s how my quesadilla look now!
