Not the Hoffman House you remember.. son Michael took it over (don't know how dad let him ruin the family legacy of Hoffman House, but son did it), took out everything that was classic, delicious and worked, and eventually replaced it with a sports bar. No one we know ever goes there now, we used to go together weekly and see the same large tables of regulars. Now instead of fine dining, everyone drinks beer out of the bottle (no offence to those who like that, but that was never seen at the old place), cheap food (but not inexpensive, just cheap over fried pieces of whatever was in the kitchen) and their "catering" is overpriced, small servings; banquets have So many over the top expenses on top of their overpriced food which the last few times I've been to their catered events, meat is dry, overcooked, veggies are limp and lifeless, bread crusty and hard to the point of breaking a tooth, fruits were pre-cut prob day or two before so were all dried out on the platter and cheeses, also precut or bought in cubes, had white filmy edges on all surfaces and did not even taste like the cheese they were supposed to be. His dad has a nice supper club in WI, but obviously did not supervise the kid in this hand-off and kid immediately cut corners to make a quick buck at our expense.

The Restaurant was almost empty. The Server appeared immediately and we had high hopes. Ordered two Prime Ribs. Waited. and waited.. and eventually a different server served up two dishes. Both were not cold but not hot neither had they been under a heat lamp. The Steak Knives were so blunt we ended up using the knives provided with the Napkins. The cuts of meat were not impressive given the price. It was not surprising that the Restaurant was not busy whereas the Bar area was. We will not be returning.

Did I eat breakfast/lunch there? Yes ! Was it worth it? Yes. Does Rockford have alot more options close by? Very much so, yes. Would you say the breakfast would be like that of a continental breakfast? Yes, with the exception that you don't get to go back for 2nds, & 3rds, & you have to pay for it, unlike other hotels.

Love their Friday night fish fry. Absolutely delicious and the serving was literally all I could eat! My husband had another helping of fish. Service was great and friendly, even though they were very busy!

Closed the restaurant. Only open for receptions and large venues. No longer have salad bar or the honey butter rolls. Only eat in the bar area..

To order Thanksgiving has become a tradition for us. We love the food. I will be sad to do do so next year as I will not be able to drive to the new catering location to pick up food.
