Not the Hoffman House you remember.. son Michael took it over (don't know how dad let him ruin the family legacy of Hoffman House, but son did it), took out everything that was classic, delicious and worked, and eventually replaced it with a sports bar. No one we know ever goes there now, we used to go together weekly and see the same large tables of regulars. Now instead of fine dining, everyone drinks beer out of the bottle (no offence to those who like that, but that was never seen at the old place), cheap food (but not inexpensive, just cheap over fried pieces of whatever was in the kitchen) and their "catering" is overpriced, small servings; banquets have So many over the top expenses on top of their overpriced food which the last few times I've been to their catered events, meat is dry, overcooked, veggies are limp and lifeless, bread crusty and hard to the point of breaking a tooth, fruits were pre-cut prob day or two before so were all dried out on the platter and cheeses, also precut or bought in cubes, had white filmy edges on all surfaces and did not even taste like the cheese they were supposed to be. His dad has a nice supper club in WI, but obviously did not supervise the kid in this hand-off and kid immediately cut corners to make a quick buck at our expense.

The Restaurant was almost empty. The Server appeared immediately and we had high hopes. Ordered two Prime Ribs. Waited. and waited.. and eventually a different server served up two dishes. Both were not cold but not hot neither had they been under a heat lamp. The Steak Knives were so blunt we ended up using the knives provided with the Napkins. The cuts of meat were not impressive given the price. It was not surprising that the Restaurant was not busy whereas the Bar area was. We will not be returning.

Love their Friday night fish fry. Absolutely delicious and the serving was literally all I could eat! My husband had another helping of fish. Service was great and friendly, even though they were very busy!

Micheal Prosser, (owner) I'm sorry to give you 1 star, but you REALLY dissapointed my wife and I last night. We dressed up and went out for our 25 year anniversary looking forward to a nice quiet meal in that elegant atmosphere, some Hoffman house prime rib... mmmmmm delicious.
We got there, friday night.. plenty of parking, ...plenty of seats,.(Which seemed odd) ..Waitress seated us, i looked around.. place looked dead, except for some drunken dudes slurping beer in sweatpants. We browsed over your new shortened bar menu, i felt a tear, we saw the salad bar gone, and no steaks, and no prime rib on Friday night! (SAT ONLY) There is no longer a fine dining area, just loud TVS hanging everywhere. This was Not the etsablishment we'd visited for the last 25 years. We promptly walked out without ordering. (A bit embarrassing, I've never done that.)
You HAD a HIGHLY rated. well established rockford fine dining staple. NOW you have just another bar/hotel restaurant.
I get it, I read the news, you're focusing on your catering..... but did you really need to abandon this awesome restaurant to do so? What were you thinking?

Forgot to write this a couple weeks ago. So disappointed when we went (2/9/2024). When we walked in we saw 2 individuals taking a shot just outside the entrance. First I thought it was just some guests at the hotel. Later found out one of them was the bartender! She also closed out the bar early! 11:30 pm was last call. I would understand if we were the only customers. That wasn't the case. She literally told a group of people she was closing out early. A group of at least 6 people who were in no rush to leave. She told them they had to leave. Can't imagine how much money Hoffman house lost in just that group. So this bartender's name is Skylar. The bar at the time was no where to be closed. She just wanted everyone out so she could party somewhere else. I don't know how she was even standing that night. Like I said before she was already taking a shot when we walked in. She was clearly drunk while working. Hopefully the owners are keeping a close eye on her and watch the cameras, because you will find that I am not lying. I really like the place and I would not go back of she is working there.
I was really excited to bring my wife out for her birthday to the hoffman house for dinner as it has been along time since id been there and the food was always great. But I guess times have changed. Ive had WAY BETTER at a take out pizza business..so if your looking for a good place to go for dinner ...PLEASE GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE...very disappointing....

Very disappointed when I went to Hoffman House on Friday evening and was told they serve prime rib on Saturday only.The total atmosphere has changed…not welcoming at all. New Eating area next to bar/tv room looks like a storage room. Chairs all wood very uncomfortable. Absolutely no ambiance…nothing special about this place anymore. Very sad!!I realize things need to change to be competitive but these changes turned a good restaurant to a bar extension.

Used to be one of our favorites. We had a party of 8 hostess said we could move our own tables.! What?? Was not very happy with dinner choices. Waitress did not clear our dirty dishes when we were finished so we could visit. Dont think we will be back. Really miss the salad bar.

Sorry, did not eat here recently. This has always been a place my family picked for special occasions and celebrations. Everyone of us loved the salad bar. Food has always been good too, but no other place stood out for their salad bar. We are from Wisconsin, there are several dinner clubs closer to us that we also enjoy. Without your exceptional salad bar, we will probably pick other dinner clubs. Wish you the best. Found out when I called for reservations for a birthday celebration next Friday about this change. My friend specifically asked about your salad bar. My family and friends will find another place to celebrate. Weird, but this made me sad. I guess, just thinking about how many celebrations we have had at Hoffman House. Nostalgic moments, knowing that we will probably not be coming in the future. I have ordered food from you for holidays so will probably still do that, salad bar doesn't count for catered food.

What a disappointment. Loved the old dining room with the fireplace and the salad bar. They are going to lose a lot of customers. It's just another sports bar now and if you want a Burger, that's fine but quite honestly, I ordered a Caesar salad and it wasn't good. my granddaughter couldn't even eat her grilled cheese. And it wasn't good. My cocktail didn't even taste good . It's sad...the owner will be sorry.
