Hoffman house catered this wedding, prime rib was amazing! Gave us energy to dance all night!

Micheal Prosser, (owner) I'm sorry to give you 1 star, but you REALLY dissapointed my wife and I last night. We dressed up and went out for our 25 year anniversary looking forward to a nice quiet meal in that elegant atmosphere, some Hoffman house prime rib... mmmmmm delicious.
We got there, friday night.. plenty of parking, ...plenty of seats,.(Which seemed odd) ..Waitress seated us, i looked around.. place looked dead, except for some drunken dudes slurping beer in sweatpants. We browsed over your new shortened bar menu, i felt a tear, we saw the salad bar gone, and no steaks, and no prime rib on Friday night! (SAT ONLY) There is no longer a fine dining area, just loud TVS hanging everywhere. This was Not the etsablishment we'd visited for the last 25 years. We promptly walked out without ordering. (A bit embarrassing, I've never done that.)
You HAD a HIGHLY rated. well established rockford fine dining staple. NOW you have just another bar/hotel restaurant.
I get it, I read the news, you're focusing on your catering..... but did you really need to abandon this awesome restaurant to do so? What were you thinking?

Forgot to write this a couple weeks ago. So disappointed when we went (2/9/2024). When we walked in we saw 2 individuals taking a shot just outside the entrance. First I thought it was just some guests at the hotel. Later found out one of them was the bartender! She also closed out the bar early! 11:30 pm was last call. I would understand if we were the only customers. That wasn't the case. She literally told a group of people she was closing out early. A group of at least 6 people who were in no rush to leave. She told them they had to leave. Can't imagine how much money Hoffman house lost in just that group. So this bartender's name is Skylar. The bar at the time was no where to be closed. She just wanted everyone out so she could party somewhere else. I don't know how she was even standing that night. Like I said before she was already taking a shot when we walked in. She was clearly drunk while working. Hopefully the owners are keeping a close eye on her and watch the cameras, because you will find that I am not lying. I really like the place and I would not go back of she is working there.

Very disappointed when I went to Hoffman House on Friday evening and was told they serve prime rib on Saturday only.The total atmosphere has changed…not welcoming at all. New Eating area next to bar/tv room looks like a storage room. Chairs all wood very uncomfortable. Absolutely no ambiance…nothing special about this place anymore. Very sad!!I realize things need to change to be competitive but these changes turned a good restaurant to a bar extension.

Used to be one of our favorites. We had a party of 8 hostess said we could move our own tables.! What?? Was not very happy with dinner choices. Waitress did not clear our dirty dishes when we were finished so we could visit. Dont think we will be back. Really miss the salad bar.

Sorry, did not eat here recently. This has always been a place my family picked for special occasions and celebrations. Everyone of us loved the salad bar. Food has always been good too, but no other place stood out for their salad bar. We are from Wisconsin, there are several dinner clubs closer to us that we also enjoy. Without your exceptional salad bar, we will probably pick other dinner clubs. Wish you the best. Found out when I called for reservations for a birthday celebration next Friday about this change. My friend specifically asked about your salad bar. My family and friends will find another place to celebrate. Weird, but this made me sad. I guess, just thinking about how many celebrations we have had at Hoffman House. Nostalgic moments, knowing that we will probably not be coming in the future. I have ordered food from you for holidays so will probably still do that, salad bar doesn't count for catered food.

What a disappointment. Loved the old dining room with the fireplace and the salad bar. They are going to lose a lot of customers. It's just another sports bar now and if you want a Burger, that's fine but quite honestly, I ordered a Caesar salad and it wasn't good. my granddaughter couldn't even eat her grilled cheese. And it wasn't good. My cocktail didn't even taste good . It's sad...the owner will be sorry.

I used to enjoy this restaurant very much but since the Hoffman house has “closed” (the space that used to be reserved for the hoffman house supper club is now closed and has been relocated into a room which is an extension of Scoreboard sports bar) the service, atmosphere, and food has went downhill tremendously. I was there this past week and I decided to try a new item off the menu, a prime rib sandwich. The sandwich was ridiculous, it was bland and soggy and smelt of feet. I flagged down my waitress to ask her if I could send this sandwich back to the kitchen and get something else because it was inedible. She then asked my why I wanted to send it back to the kitchen, and I told her it’s because I do not like the sandwich and I cannot eat it as it smells like feet and tastes even worse. She gives me a dirty look and tells me that I cannot send it back simply because I don’t like it, only if there is something wrong with it ( and may I note that during this conversation she had a rude tone and demeanor) she went to the manager and the manager said that if I want something else I can order it, she is not taking the prime rib sandwich off my check… during these two conversations multiple waiters and waitress’s walked by my table and gave me weird look, which makes me believe that the staff was judging me. I told her to throw the sandwich away afterward, left $0.00 as a tip (which I never do, I always tip above 20% if service is good) and went to Chick-fil-A across the street afterward and had a much better experience there than the Hoffman house could offer. I’m sad to see such a wonderful establishment go downhill so quickly, it’s safe to say I’m not going to be returning any time soon.

Really missed the supper club atmosphere. That was unusual and wonderful. Now it's a sports club. There's a lot of those around. So---Hoffman House is no longer special.

Stopped into the Hoffman House Supper Club while in Rockford on vacation. Started out with escargot and then had a beautiful Prime Rib dinner. We sat in the bar and had fabulous service. The food was excellent. Give them a try.

My favorite place to eat...prime rib and lobster best by far for miles around...the reason for the 1 star is the recent news of them getting rid of one of the staples of the whole establishment.."THE SALAD BAR."..probably will never go back ever again...I hope more people will post similar remarks..I know me and my family are not the only one that feel this way..thank you and God bless..!!.
