Grabbed late lunch/early dinner while in town, place was pretty empty for a Saturday at 3, at least considering how good the food was. I was surprised at how thoroughly well cooked the burger itself was throughout, for how thick it was. Did not get any mixed drinks, so can't speak for the bartender skill, but the selection looked okay. Pretty solid place to stop.

Bartenders seem to always be preoccupied with their other coworkers...bar has no personality whatsoever. Just the typical beer signs, no real personal touches. Pinball machine has issues as well. Burger was great, tho.

Screw City Tavern is your classic pub with a menu to match, but don't let that fool you – they do it right! I recently stopped in and had the Screw City Burger, and it was seriously tasty. The bacon cheeseburger was cooked perfectly, and the garlic aioli really took it to the next level.
The atmosphere was great, and I ended up sitting at the bar. Heather, the bartender, was super friendly and made sure I was well taken care of. She definitely added to the overall positive experience.

Went after a day at the golf course on a Sunday. Bartender was friendly and took good care of us. We ordered the pickle fries for the app and it was delicious. I order the tavern chicken sandwich which was super tasty and the sweet potato waffle fries were exceptional. Thank you, we will be back!

We discovered this restaurant over a year ago and had found the food to be above average for a bar/restaurant. It really felt like there was care put into the several menu items we tried. Over the last few months we started having issues. I would sometimes make to-go orders and there were two or three occasions where they were wrong. The last time I ordered to go and got their Screw City Pasta, the chicken was rubbery and the dish was basically inedible. We gave it a couple few month's distance and decided to try again by going into the restaurant. My husband got a burger which he asked to have cooked medium, but it was cooked well, another thing he'd noticed had started to happen more recently when ordering there. I ordered the Screw City Pasta and it was soupy and pretty much flavorless, even after asking to have cajun seasoning put on it. I had only eaten a small amount of the meal which I pointed out to the server and asked if I could get something taken off the bill or order something different. She said there was no manager there and so I could write my name and number down on the check and she would have one call me. I've never had a situation at a restaurant like this before where there's been an issue with the food and no one there with the authority to make a decision about it. Apparently this is not uncommon from some of the other reviews I've seen online. Maybe they'll call me back though I'm not holding my breath. Based on my recent experiences, I have to say that this restaurant has gone downhill fast. It now feels like the typical Rockford bar/restaurant (i.e. don't expect much from the food...or service) versus when we started going there.

Ordered wings for take out. Opened the box at home to notice there was a bite taken out of one of the boneless wings. Took the food back and the bartender was nice and asked us to come back when the manager was there for a refund. Came back to a bartender with a displeasing attitude to say the least. The second bartender was filthy and rude and said she would not be refunding out money and that the wings are “cut in half to ensure doneness.” This was very clearly a bite and the first bartender agreed as there was even sauce missing from said mark as well as teeth marks. Absolutely disgusting behavior on the second bartenders part but we just wanted our money back and were told either take a gift card or nothing. This was our first visit and we will definitely not be back and most definitely will warn our friends and family away from the screw city tavern establishment.
