Probably the worst gyro I have ever tried to eat sorry it was so bad finished after a bite the meat tasted like it was still raw and what's with the hand full of onions and the sauce tasted like sour cream and was way to much....that's my opinion and experience

This is the first time that I have been extremely disappointed in my gyro over the 40 years I’ve lived in Rockford. There once was a day when you’d have to pick off pieces of lamb in order for it not to fall out of your pita. The gyro I got tonight was so sparse of lamb and so full of sauce that it rated a definite “1” out of “10” on my rating scale! I’m beyond words as I have always looked to Uncle Nick’s as a “go to” for good food for my family for such a very long time. This is not the first time in the last year that the gyros have disappointed us. We love them so will maybe try the other location more often. Please, down town Rockford location-step up your game if you don’t want to lose customers!

Is the place sanitary where the cooks cook? Or was the grilled chicken sandwich contaminated? I got food poisoning after eating the grilled chicken sandwich. Cold chills, diarrhea, and I threw up last night. The vomit looks like chicken broth. I got to use Peptol Bismol now. Thanks a lot uncle nicks 👍 definitely won’t be seeing me ever again.

Whatever you do don't bring something back and think there making a new sandwich cause all they did is dump hot grease on sandwich and microwave the fries and cheese sauce. I'm horrified and will never eat there again. I could go on with much more but I'm angry and want too be fair. My dogs knew something was off cause they won't eat it either. 😒

Screen was down pulled forward and was laughed at by a guy who was completely rude. Was told to get back in line. Everyone else was ordering at the window so first experience. I give them 0. Went to portilos. McDonald's has better service than these people extremely rude.
I’ve always loved Uncle Nick’s, and this location used to be amazing. However, the last four times I’ve visited, the gyros have been nowhere near as packed as they used to be. While they still taste good, they now contain only about 30% of the meat they used to offer. They seem to be compensating by adding extra sauce to make it look like the same portion, but it’s just a few pieces of meat buried under way too much sauce.
The Uncle Nick’s further down East State has always been great, and I think they’re still doing good portions, but it’s been a while since I’ve gone. I’ll check it out to see if this issue is happening at both locations. Uncle Nick’s used to be legendary in Rockford, which explains the high reviews, but if they keep cutting corners like this, the brand’s reputation will fade.
The Pizza Puff is always good. You can’t go wrong with a Pizza Puff! I also ordered mushrooms, and they gave me less than half of what they normally serve. To make matters worse, they were greasy and hard. It’s sad to see such an iconic place decline like this, and I really hope they turn things around before it’s too late. I will change my review if they go back to how they were.

We used to love their food but every time we eat there lately they put onions on the gyros after specifically asking for no onions.. and they put A LOT on there. Onions make my stomach hurt and I feel sick so I absolutely cannot eat them. I don't understand how they can constantly screw this up when they literally write no onions on the order! Mistakes happen but when it happens multiple times in a row it's time to find a new spot. Today not only did we get onions but the meat was so dry and tasted old plus it wasn't even hot. Another Rockford favorite down the tubes. We recently tried Tom and Jerry's in Loves Park on E. Riverside near Farm and Fleet. Their gyros are always hot, fresh and prepared correctly. We will be going there from now on. It's really sad that a long established favorite doesn't serve quality food and cannot get simple orders right. Never again, Uncle Nick's.
