visited on 08/16/2025 for an order replacement and was told by the manager the owner stated he didn’t remember anything and my issue couldn’t be resolved. I paid for the food out of pocket and when retrieving my order one of the hostess delivers the bag and says “ next time take your business elsewhere “
If you are black don’t even visit this establishment. Racist. Rude. Terrible customer service. Overpriced bland food. A bunch of teenage hostess with no personality who can’t answer simple questions & a rude general manager. You can find way better establishments to spend your money like Buttermilk, Eggs Cafe, etc! The landscaping at this restaurant gives more dive bar than a breakfast joint. Overall terrible experience and I won’t be back!

Pancakes Extremely dry and no flavor. I think a high school kid with no experience is making the pancake batter. If you read this please do not get the pancakes and hash browns.. Also the prices are all over priced .

Came in town to visit and we ordered delivery. I was disappointed in the food. This restaurant came highly referred. I ordered an omelet and grits with cheese. 👎🏻 Now, my friend says they only eat the chicken fried steak, which is what they ordered. It was very good to them, but to me, it had a super thick crust, over cooked and seasonless. My friend said it depends who's cooking that day. IDK.
My hubby and I stumbled across The Southern Cafe after spending the weekend in Schaumburg, and what a gem! We were craving something that felt more homemade and less like a typical chain—and this spot did not disappoint.
I ordered the catfish jalapeño & cheddar grits, and let me just say… delicious! So flavorful, creamy, and with just the right kick.
The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The service was average nothing amazing. Its only about a 10 minute drive from Schaumburg, so it’s perfect for a quick getaway from the busy mall area.
But whether you’re local or just passing through, The Southern Cafe is definitely worth the stop.
