Came in town to visit and we ordered delivery. I was disappointed in the food. This restaurant came highly referred. I ordered an omelet and grits with cheese. 👎🏻 Now, my friend says they only eat the chicken fried steak, which is what they ordered. It was very good to them, but to me, it had a super thick crust, over cooked and seasonless. My friend said it depends who's cooking that day. IDK.
My hubby and I stumbled across The Southern Cafe after spending the weekend in Schaumburg, and what a gem! We were craving something that felt more homemade and less like a typical chain—and this spot did not disappoint.
I ordered the catfish jalapeño & cheddar grits, and let me just say… delicious! So flavorful, creamy, and with just the right kick.
The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The service was average nothing amazing....

The food and atmosphere at this restaurant is amazing and so good. The service was great, our waitress made sure our food was to our liking and checked in on us periodically. Highly recommend coming here.
