This Wal-Mart is not the greatest especially if you are if color they spot you out and watch you from the time you ienter until the time you check out! Everytime we go into this Wal-Mart they look at us like we don't belong and that we shouldn't be there! If you go there there are no workers of color so that says alot about them too! Even my mixed granddaughters don't like it! They need to realize that this is the 2000s not the 1800s and get with the program! They are very rude and disrespectful everytime but I expect it because the whole town is like this! I have never felt so uncomfortable going to a store except for here! They need a reality check!!

Horrible. Associates not paying attention, poorly trained and poorly informed. Team leader Travis yelled at me and I told him he was an idiot for acting like I was the problem when they were. I demanded a manager but instead he kicked me out of the store and I filed a formal complaint with Walmart corportate. Horrible place.

So when I cam to this small hamlet in southern Illinois, I knew there wasn't going to be much to do. I had asked the people I was going with what there was to do, they had said, "go to Walmart." I thought they were joking...they were not. I mean, I have been to small towns before, and I have encountered what it is like to have nothing to do, but they were straight up telling the truth. Going to Walmart in this area is the thing to do. There are a few restaurants and what not, but for something to actually fill that void in your day where you have nothing to do, yeah, it's Walmart or bust. It's not the best thing to do, especially when the registers are way underused during the busy time of the day. You will wait forever to get your one item. No matter if you think that coming at an off time will get you by that, they just lower the number of registers open. Just do us all a favor and get rid of about twenty of those registers and put more products in there. That's what you want to do and we all know, so just do it.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Not only did this Wal-Mart destroy all the mom-and-pop stores around the area, but it did so and provided horrible service for it's customers at the same time. It's not that the employees who work here are horrible... it's just that they seem to be only trained in their own department and extremely understaffed and undertrained so they don't know how to answer any questions outside of their jurisdiction. Also not impressed with the produce at Salem Wal-Mart, and their lack of organic foods and ethnically diverse choices. I wish you'd just go away, Wal-Mart. You have destroyed yet another town's eco-system and we just can't fight you off.
