Tucked in a shopping plaza with free parking, I found Chicago Ramen Annex to be a small cozy place with about 8 dining tables to satisfy my ramen craving. I ordered the $17.95 white miso ramen with an egg and the red spicy paste on the side which I'm glad I did because I found it to be on the spicier side. It came hot and it was delicious. I will definitely come back if I'm in the area.

The jiro ramen here is homey and robust. The broth is more savory than and not as salty as what you'd find in a tonkotsu broth (flavor wise it's actually a little like garlic bread). Adding the heaps of vegetables and huge cuts of chashu, the jiro ramen gave the impression of a dish you'd make at home, where one's focus is less on intense flavor and more on having a filling and tasty meal. I look forward to ordering the jiro again next winter.

Decided to see if this was as bad as Algonquin. It was. Walked out and paid for my drink didn’t touch my food. Better service at mc Donald’s.

Decent bowl of ramen. Tried what they considered as a light and medium broth. If you like ginger, light is the way to go. Chashu was better than other ramen restaurants but I didn't care for their noodles as much. Service was a little slow and our order was messed up. We also ordered a karaage appetizer which arrived after we were served our ramen. Perhaps they were short staffed that day.

I love coming here for some tasty miso ramen and takoyaki. Everyone is so nice here too!

A very cozy place with average service. Extremely mild spicy thick broth red miso Raman with egg and wide wavy ramen was ok. The egg was good. White miso Raman with regular ramen was better with flavored soup broth. Both Raman noodles are cooked perfectly. The broths ‘ very greasy. The flavorless pork was mushy/overcooked/melt in the mouth wasn’t good. The hard plastic cups for drinks are very old/overused, they have white chipped/ grind on the top. It was nice they have a ramen dictionary.

As someone who doesn’t like to travel far for his food, this ramen spot is the EXCEPTION

Seriously, Chicago ramen annex is better than most ramen places you’ll find (yes, even better than downtown)

Personally, I had the beef curry with egg ramen & my fiance had the tsukemen (ramen you dip)

Not only were they both extremely flavorful but the portions were huge (enough for us take home for a second meal)

We will definitely be coming back again & again (they have more ramen options too!)

Overall, the service was friendly & helpful. You could tell that locals love this place too.

10/10 you have to try this place

Shrimp tempura and chicken karg was very very good. Definitely best tempura I’ve had; the ramen was unfortunately not the best it was very bland and wasn’t packed with any flavors. I was quite disappointed. Neither me nor my partner enjoyed it. The service was also subpar our food took forever even though the people that were seated next to us after we ordered, ordered the same items and received their food first. Our server wasn’t very knowledgeable about the menu and would tell us he had to go ask.. overall won’t be back here again was a first and last visit.

Ramen was edible, the pork char siu was cold telling me it wasn’t fresh most likely cooked they day before. The broth was thick and greasy. There are so many better spots in the area.

The food was great but the waitress was extremely rude and unprofessional I wouldn’t recommend unless you want an unresponsive waitress who put headphones in after we told her what she did was rude

Excellent tsukemen! My girlfriend and I loved our ramen here. She had the veggie ramen and I had the spicy tsukemen (cold dipping ramen with hot broth), and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The taste, value, presentation, and service are superb. The tsukemen in particular uses a thicker cut noodle that’s chilled and served separately from the dipping broth, so it retains its exceptional chewy texture throughout the entire meal. Plus, dipping your ramen is fun! I recommend all ramen lovers to give tsukemen a try.

Edit: 1 year later, I still stand by everything said earlier. I’ve been to a dozen different ramen restaurants in the area and this still is my favorite one. The beef curry ramen here has become my new favorite!

I was not impressed. The waitress was making it seem like we were an inconvenience and it was super hot in there. You would think at least in a ramen place there would be some kind of fan or AC unit. It's a 0 for me.
