City Works (Woodfield Mall - Schaumburg)

I was quite surprised by the meal today. I have frequented this restaurant a lot for work meetings and today the restaurant was pretty much dead quiet with only a few diners, but it was 3pm. I ordered the fish and chips like I have on many occasions but this time it was horribly overcooked and completely bland. The fish had zero flavor and I don't think any salt was used. It is imperative that a chef adds salt to the fish before battering along with some additional flavor in the batter itself. With the restaurant being so empty there is no excuse for not getting the meal right. Also service was terribly slow and again, no excuse for that with literally 3/4 tables only occupied.

Nice atmosphere. We enjoyed all the football games playing at once. The food was okay. The staff was either in an annoyed attitude or always in a rush. Good took a while to get to the table.

Everything was great & have a great diverse menu. Plus they had 3 huge TVs to watch the KC Chiefs game.

We, our friends, and our dog enjoyed the outdoor seating in the shade during this wonderful September's first. At 3 PM it was not crowded, the service was prompt and food-good.

We did not think our server was very good. Low energy, did not check with us often enough, no napkins with the appetizer, did not appear to embrace her job or show enthusiasm. The food was the typical bar/grill food and it was fine but nothing special. Did not like that the tablet for charging the bill had the lowest tip level at 18% and should have started at 10% versus having to put in a custom tip.

Food was amazing! Our server Pam was great!! She was always on top of it! 10/10 would come back! As long as Pam is serving!

Came in for some drinks and appetizers while around the area. Our server Pam was fantastic with every recommendation! We ended up with the hot honey flatbread and the crab fondue, which I would recommend to everyone! 11/10 would come back!

First time eating at city works. I need to give a huge Shout out to our server Pam! She was quick with all of our request. And helped us decided on what to order and what beer to try. Would Definitely recommend the mac & cheese and the
Pineapple Guppy. Love the atmosphere and everything seemed very clean and kept up.

Pam wasn’t just our waitress—she was the MVP of our entire night. She had perfect timing, kept our drinks topped off like she was training for the hydration Olympics, and somehow managed to read our table’s chaos like a pro. Her food recommendations were spot on, and she made us laugh so much we’re convinced she could do stand-up comedy on her days off. Pam turned what could’ve been a regular dinner into one of those nights you talk about for weeks. If you come here, ask for Pam—you’ll leave full, happy, and wondering how to convince her to be your new best friend
