As a recent transplant to the Chicago area, I’m currently in a desperate search for new fav places that offer my go to comfort and happy foods. Donuts are a top priority for me!

I was really looking forward to trying this place because it looked like they offered the type of old school donuts that I pine after! If you’ve ever been to or lived in Los Angeles, I am really missing my Korean donut shops that sell the freshest old school donuts neatly tucked into those pink boxes. That’s what I love and that’s what I’m looking for.

Unfortunately, County donuts fell short. They are the old fashioned type, but they are just mediocre. But the worst part was how awful the chocolate cream donuts are! THOSE ARE MY FAVS - nothing beats a fresh test donuts filled full of fresh pastry cream! But the ones that County donuts are selling are not worth getting! There is so little filling that it just feels like a slightly undercooked donut. And the filling is absolute garbage. It wasn’t even really chocolate! It was a weird tan color.

Now the donut itself was fresh and tasted fine. And other flavors were definitely better, but stay away from anything fillled. It will
Disappoint you. The coconut donut was solid and the strawberry frosted donut was actually great.

Also, DO NOT ORDER VIA DOORDASH!! They messed up my order and replaced some of the donuts I was really looking forward to with junk. There was no apology or explanation, they just sent what they sent. Not happy considering it cost me nearly $50 all in. So clearly you have to actually go in. It will be a lot cheaper anyway… they really jack up their prices for DoorDash. And they aren’t cheap to begin with.

Anyway, while County Donuts ultimately disappointed me, they had enough
Options that were actually pretty good and in the general vicinity of what I’m searching for. The coffee is decent and the donut holes were a huge hit with my Partner. So I’ll def go again but I won’t go out of my way or go very often.

I personally will continue my search for the best old School donuts in the Chicago area!

Donuts were so fresh and good. Lady working the counter seemed less than happy to be working.

Excellent. The crew loved them. Will be back soon!

Sadly, they went the way of spunkers. Their donuts have no filling and they are mostly dry and just expensive.

We headed hear after a night in the city thinking it was Country Donuts. I guess I need my reading glasses or have to enlarge the text on my screen. Anyway, this place is 24 hours. But it's located south of Old Schaumburg and not the mall area (Woodfield Mall, One Schaumburg Place, etc.)

We pulled into the lot at around 10:30pm on a Friday night. There was no one there it seemed, but that's because the worker (owner, perhaps) was in the back filling up Boston Cream donuts.

The fluorescent lighting was reminiscent of older 1950's diners with harsh lighting.

Anyway, we entered the establishment and made our selections. Since he was freshly filling Boston Creams, we each ordered one. My wife also ordered a half dozen donut holes: three glazed, and three chocolate glazed. They were a nice size, but meh.

I ordered a red velvet cake donut. Where the Boston Cream was yeasty with very little cream inside, the red velvet cake was soft, with gooey glaze and it just melted in your mouth with a smooth, velvety finish. This was the donut worth driving out there for. However, since we were driving to a location I thought was there, but wasn't. This still hit the spot. And is way better than the chain donut places every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
