Food was pretty bad and I paid 38.02 for something I only ate 6 California rolls of… wouldn’t come if I was starving. Eating sand would be more appealing.

I had dinner last night with a group of friends from work. Daruma is a true traditional Japanese restaurant with the best sashimi and sushi you can get get in the area. The only thing I have had that was similar in quality and taste was in Japan.
My colleagues and boss from Finland said that our meal was superb. Actually, my boss asks me to take him to Daruma ever time he is in Chicagoland. For those who want an authentic Japanese experience, there are the dining rooms with traditional Japanese seating and tables.
The food is not cheap, but the value of the quality of the sashimi is well worth it. The sashimi doesn't need much soy sauce or wasabi added as it literally melts in your mouth it is so good. I actually have a hard time eating sushi and sashimi at my old go-to Japanese restaurants now that I have experienced Daruma. This is a great place to take a customer from out of town that is looking for a new culinary experience in Chicagoland.

I particularly like their ramen, even though I have to drive an hour to get here, it's a pity that ramen is only available at night. The food is delicious and the service is very friendly.

A long-established Japanese restaurant.
While stopping by Woodfield Mall, I met up with a high school friend and we decided to have sushi here.
When it comes to sushi in the suburbs, I usually go either here or to Sushi Kushi.
You can enjoy authentic Japanese home-style dishes as well as fresh sushi.

So fortunate to have Daruma in Schaumburg. Everything on the menu looks delicious. We had the tempura appetizer, consisting of shrimp and a variety of vegetables, which were perfectly fried with a light covering of batter. I love tempura when it’s lightly coated verses a heavy batter - theirs was perfect.

For dinner, we ordered the Daruma Don, a bowl of sushi rice topped with tuna and salmon sashimi was fantastic. Highly recommend Daruma for an authentic and delicious Japanese meal.

A hidden gem! Daruma is fast, fresh, and generous with portions. I got the Daruma Bowl, which came loaded with three salmon sashimi, two yellowtail, three tuna sashimi, 🍣 plus a mountain of sushi rice, pickled ginger, and miso soup - all for a great price! My friend’s lunch special 🍱 looked just as amazing. Bonus tip! You’re served hot tea 🍵 as soon as you sit down. Highly recommend, it’s delicious!!!

The best, most authentic Japanese restaurant I've been to in the US. The staff are also super friendly, and have added a couple items to the menu over the years because of my friends, who are regulars here. Absolutely recommended!!
