So fortunate to have Daruma in Schaumburg. Everything on the menu looks delicious. We had the tempura appetizer, consisting of shrimp and a variety of vegetables, which were perfectly fried with a light covering of batter. I love tempura when it’s lightly coated verses a heavy batter - theirs was perfect.

For dinner, we ordered the Daruma Don, a bowl of sushi rice topped with tuna and salmon sashimi was fantastic. Highly recommend Daruma for an authentic and delicious Japanese meal.

A hidden gem! Daruma is fast, fresh, and generous with portions. I got the Daruma Bowl, which came loaded with three salmon sashimi, two yellowtail, three tuna sashimi, 🍣 plus a mountain of sushi rice, pickled ginger, and miso soup - all for a great price! My friend’s lunch special 🍱 looked just as amazing. Bonus tip! You’re served hot tea 🍵 as soon as you sit down. Highly recommend, it’s delicious!!!

The best, most authentic Japanese restaurant I've been to in the US. The staff are also super friendly, and have added a couple items to the menu over the years because of my friends, who are regulars here. Absolutely recommended!!

Nice, quiet atmosphere, beautiful Japanese interior. The staff are very polite and friendly. I ordered the Katsu pork rice bowl. It was a huge serving! The pork was tender, juicy, and tasty. We also had the fried baby octopus for appetizer and it was delicious. There were lots of Asian customers in the restaurant so it could be a good sign that the food is good and authentic.

We visited Daruma for a work event and it was absolutely amazing. We were a larger party so we reserved one of the larger rooms in the back. It felt personal and like we were at home just hanging out with friends. Our server was very attentive and even the cook came out and introduced himself. We had a few plates of various sushi, sashimi, and nigrini to share between ourselves and many servings of hot sake.

There is plenty of parking and even though we visited on a Friday evening, it never seemed like the restaurant got super busy. Daruma is very close to us so we'll definitely be visiting again!

Authentic Japanese food, Big portions, server was nice and attentive. I recommend getting the zaru soba. It is a cold noodle with dipping sauce. It is flavorful. We also got chicken teriyaki combo. It’s huge. It’s good for 2 people sharing. Also, Tonkotsu dinner is very big too.

I love Agedashi tofu, so I always order from every Japanese restaurant I that go. I also ordered from here. I think the tempura batter here isn’t my style but dipping sauce was ok.
My least favorite is Buta Nira Moyashi. There is too much bean sprouts.

We ended up packing a lot of food home. So, don’t over order. Most of the main dishes and entrees are good for sharing.

About 30 minutes drive from Downtown Chicago (Japanese Neighborhood) but it’s worth the drive…very authentic Japanese & the owner is at the restaurant everyday…I highly recommend making reservations in advance.

Daruma is a neighborhood gem for authentic Japenese food! The ambience is also very cool, complete with a small koi pond and tatami rooms for a traditional experience. We always enjoy the sushi here, but the tonkotsu ramen and niku udon are highlights as well. We also recently tried the daikon salad. It was a little different than what we were expecting, but was still delicious and a fun surprise. I also recommend trying the Japanese spaghetti, as it is described as a Japanese comfort food. You can order a half portion of this as well. One of my favorite spots whenever I’m in the area!

The sushi and sashimi here was top notch! The restaurant itself was clean and equipped. My husband and I also enjoyed some delicious housemade matcha tiramisu
