I was a bit disappointed the first couple of times here - they were never open on time and never answered, whether coming at 11:30 a.m. or at noon. But finally they got their act together and they've been open. Just a quick heads up, they're related to La Unica in Rodgers Park and I have to say the food is somewhat equal. There's no BYOB here but everything tastes the same like the original. The menu here is slimed down a bit and they have pics on the wall to help you if you're, como se dice, unfamiliar with a Central and/or South American menu. The oxtail, beef stew, and maduros are favorites. That gravy is so good, I wish I knew the recipe, it's so Muy bien carnal.

Went tonight looking for some empanadas and a Cuban steak sandwich and it was all delicious. We will be back for sure to try everything else on the menu.

Not very welcoming staff whatsoever! Tasteless empanada stuffed with pieces of fatty meat! Gross!

Qué agradable sorpresa encontrar La Unica Cafe en Schaumburg. Pedí un Bistec de Lomo con Yucca Frita y un Postobon para beber. ¡La comida era deliciosa! Altamente recomendado y mucho más cerca que la ubicación de Chicago. ¡Volveré!

Just a little place wouldn't even know it was there if u weren't looking for it.. big menu I mean huge!.. just tried a few things so far .. all exceptional, ox tails are amazing, ropa vieja also great! Pozole also very good, try this place it's ?

La Unica has been my go to Latin American restaurant for quite a few years now. I've taken and suggested many friends come here. Never have I heard a bad thing from anyone. My favorites are the rabo de res and costillas de puerco en salsa verde. The quality and quantity has been very consistent in my experience.
Food was delicious, please try the empanadas. Very flavorful and authentic. Will come back!

Fantastic food. Big fan of everything I've had there for sure. Plantains, Cuban sandwiches, steak sandwiches (m y favorite), and lomo saltado. The only thing I'd say is that I wish they were more accurate with their hours. I've tried going a couple times when they were supposed to be open and they weren't, which was a bummer. Maybe try calling first? But definitely worth getting food.

Quality and taste have been poor here for a while now. The food taste nothing like it should unless you get the Mexican food. Don't come here expecting Cuban style food or Columbian food. You will waste your money and be dissatisfied. The last straw was when I ordered the Cuban style steak sandwich that literally had a paper thin piece of steak and hard bread. Didn't have the shoestring onions or anything else the menu said it came with.

Today was my first time here in hopes to have some delicious Peruvian food. I was not let down and had delicious Papa Rellena and plátano maduro/frito. As a Peruvian who has tried many different restaurants in the Chicago land area, I would say that the prices are good too. The staff was very nice too.

So I've finally made it to La Unica Schaumburg location. Hmm ordered a Flan that was super yummy and decided to order the miami style steak sandwich which I gotta say was just ok. Steak had minimal seasoning and the bread was fresh dressed w/lettuce grilled onions and tomatoes and French fries within sandwich... I added Mayo and Swiss cheese. Service, price and portion size was good and I'd actually come back and try from the assortment of yummy selections of Cuban , Mexican , Colombian abs Peruvian food. I would've given La Unica if the steak would've been seasoned with more flavor.
