Pleasantly surprised. I didn't do any research ahead of time, and just took a chance. Wow the sushi roll was out of this world. Crunchy prawn, seared wagyu, and trout caviar. The ramen with pork belly topped that even. It's all about the broth and wow, deep rich taste that I could smell how it would taste before I tasted it. Everyone in my party loved it, and said it was unique, and we go to a lot of ramen spots. Well done!

Always a good meal here when you are in the mood for modern Japanese. Never hand anything that I didn't like. Drinks are good too. Had an amazing ube dessert there last time. It was so creamy and delicious.

The establishment provides an exceptional dining experience, offering a delectable array of culinary options. The sushi, in particular, is exquisite, as are the salad and steak. The attentive service and pleasant ambiance further enhance the overall dining experience.

Disappointing experience in Skokie We eat in other two Illinois RA restaurant: Oakbrook and Chicago and service and food is excellent and restaurant appearance live up to expectations But not on Skokie. Absolutely awful experiance: food was awful. We got lunch special Roka Akor cod. Salad which, comes with the meal was lettuce with few cucumbers, dumplings were blobs of dough soaked with fat, overcooked and smattered in grease. We returned twice and finally did not eat it at all. COD which, is Roka Akor signature dish was not presented as in any other RA restaurant, fish was burnt and arrived with cold corn ????? My partner lamb two super small pieces were also overcooked. We told the waitress and in return we got interrogated why we did not like it. No accommodations were made for fact that half of the meal was not eatable. I would recommend customers to check the other two places for true Roka Akor experience.

Some good food but mostly left underwhelmed. Service was slow and took us about 50-60 minutes to get 3 rolls of sushi. Some recommendations that would have given it a 4/5 star for me: 1. The scallop roll had crab in it - the menu is lacking major ingredients in dishes. 2. The spicy fried tofu came out soft and tasted more tex-mex with its avocado sauce. I was expecting more crunch and flavor. 3. The sushi rice was overcooked for me and not seasoned? I asked for a bowl of sushi rice and it was mushy and unseasoned. 4. The vegetable tempura roll only has sweet potato and asparagus. For a $13 veggie roll, give me some variety! Overall the vibes were good and the waiter was nice, but the $110 bill for underwhelming food was the major culprit. As someone who loves the Japanese food scene in Metro Chicago and cooks japanese at home 2-3 days a week, I left Roka Akor wanting.

This is a really nice spot. It's small so you'll want to make a reservation but it's definitely worth it.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful evening last weekend. We ordered the Roka fashion, a favorite cocktail here, to get us started and we proceeded with appetizers that everyone so enjoyed we simply ordered apps the entire evening. Our faves were the dumplings, the prawns and the prime rib, so we ordered them twice! But the shishito peppers and crispy squid were also good.

Food quality is important and I think they missed the mark. We came during restaurant week and ordered a steak dinner set. That steak was small and thin. The worst part our table had 3 steak dinner set ordered and mine was noticeably smaller. They have same menu every year for restaurant week and last time I came it had decent size steak. Unfortunately the veggies came with steak was also burnt and drench in some sauce.

The food is ok. We ordered a chirashi bowl. The taste is ok but the price you pay for what you get in return cost too expensive. ( you get small little pieces of fish) My second plate was a prime rib eye steak. The steak tasted ok. The service was horrible the gentleman never came in to check on us before he left for lunch break. The decoration was really nice for a sushi restaurant. But my experience for this restaurant is nothing to wave about besides being in the national mall being the only sushi restaurant. So I guess I can't be too picky.

Did not like the food. We asked them to fix things they took it away and brought things back almost as they were. It was pricey which we didn't mind if we actually enjoyed the meal. We were sat in the outdoor balcony kind of area. So I didn't really pay attention to the inside of the restaurant much. We got up and said never again bad experience. It's either the chef doesn't like cooking things to a customer's preference or the waiter was not doing his job.

This was our first time dining here. It was date night. The service was good from the moment we walked in. Donna was our server, she was very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. Food came out nice and hot. The presentation was very nice. I would recommend

I don't give out 5 stars lightly! Incredible food, service, and atmosphere at Roka Akor. Bryan was a phenomenal server and even made our crazy way of ordering seem like no big deal. Loved this spot. Certainly returning on my next trip to Old Orchard.

Went on valentines so I expected service and quality to take a dip due to volume of guests, I usually go to Roka at lunch, which I think personally has a better value and selection that I enjoy. The tables they put during valentines was so small that you could hardly fit your food on it! Really was trying to maximize the space but comfort of patrons was diminished.
