This place was recommended by my uncle who had eaten there previously. Four of us visited this place at 3:00pm. No one in there but us. We ordered Falafel and Hummus for appetizers. Until today none of us 4 can figure out what the Falafel was made of. It definitely was not what the menu says is in the Falafel. The presentation was great but the taste (terrible!). The Hummus was definitely store bought and not authentic (why?)!

We all ordered the "4 Way Combo". We all agreed that the chicken was ok but the rest not so much. The beef kufta was ok but not much spices and same with the beef kafta. I mean this is Middle Eastern food and the spices what gives the food the great flavors!

The Shawarma was a bit tough. Also, I expect dinner to be served hot. The Shwarma and the beef Kafta were on the cold side. I mean there were only 4 of us the entire time and no one else. The food should be hot(not talking about being spicy).

Fix your menus. I am older and require Readers and at first I thought my glasses were so dirty that I couldn't read the menu. But all 4 of us mentioned how blurry the print was.

I make trip to Chicago about 8 times a year and have a few Middle Eastern restaurants that I visit. This place will not be one of the places that I will visit again.

Deserve zero star.

Biryani was so bad, dry, tasteless, and stale. Don't go there.

Food was good. Tea was OK. I've had Iraqi tea in the past, this was bot one of my favorites. Very cute decor, appliances were broken in front, I wouldn't be surprised if also in the back. Workers seemed very nice.

Vegetarian options: Falafel were extra tasty, and although low on nutrition, so was the ghanouj

I recently dined at Skokie Grill and Bakery and was thoroughly impressed with their offerings. The highlight of my meal was the fish dish, Maskoof, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked to tender, smoky perfection. The flavors were rich yet balanced, making each bite a true delight. Alongside it, I had the white bean soup, Fasolia Soup, which was a comforting bowl of warmth. The beans were cooked just right, and the broth had a depth of flavor that made it incredibly satisfying. Together, these dishes created a meal that was both hearty and memorable. Skokie Grill and Bakery has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorites!

A gem!

We got the beef shawarma sandwich. The pita was warm and doughy and the beef had intentional tender fatty bits that complimented the overall bite of the sandwich. So good! Also try the homemade mint tea. Definitely want to come back and try the other items on the menu:-)

I had the pleasure of trying the Iraqi Stylemusgoof Fish and the lamb shank at Skokie Grill, and both were absolutely delightful ?. The fish was cooked to perfection, capturing the essence of traditional Iraqi flavors. The lamb shank was tender and flavorful, making it a must-try dish. However, I had to withhold one star because the soups didn’t quite meet my expectations. Having tried three different types, I found them lacking the depth and authenticity of the Iraqi soups I’m accustomed to. They fell a bit short of the high standard set by the main dishes

I think this is a great place -- for the price, the value is great! I think the rice is made very well, has saffron. It's also a family-owned business which it would be nice to support. Their hummus is great, to my view much better than Pita Inn, though the latter is not bad either. I visited the place many times and I would certainly visit again!
