My family was very impressed with Sweet Basil Café! We are Skokie residents and around here, I feel you either pay a lot for brunch and get a small (but high quality) portion of food, or you get a "diner brunch," where you don't pay a lot but get a ton of low-quality food (cold hash browns, wonder bread toast..). Sweet Basil Café offers high-quality food and reasonable prices. Best of both worlds! Don't let the fact that it's in the bottom floor of a hotel deter you-the restaurant is cozy. The service was very attentive (thank you, Kathy!)-quick, thoughtful and friendly. My husband and I had the biscuits and gravy (not too heavy, very flavorful) and my dad had the banana bread french toast. Mom had the huevos rancheros, which she enjoyed. We'll be back!

Lettuce in Greek salad was soggy, tasted like soap, and was swimming in water, I assume from not having been dried after being washed. Tomatoes were unripe and hard. The hard core end of the romaine was in the salad. With delivery fees and tip, salad was $23 and I threw out half of it. Very disappointing.

Very large portions of delicious food. Much better than expected for a diner on the side of a hotel by the freeway.

I met a friend for breakfast here. It was my first time coming to Sweet Basil Cafe of Skokie. We were greeted upon arrival and seated right away. I enjoyed Nutella crepes and my friend enjoyed an omelet with fruit and pancakes. The food was hot and delicious. The atmosphere was very quiet and peaceful. This is a nice spot to stop for breakfast or lunch.

Do not eat here. We met up with family staying at the attached hotel for breakfast and there was a dead beetle in my meal. It was horrifying.

Some of my friends and I came here for brunch. Service was good and our server was friendly (I apologize, his name escapes me). The menu is rather large, so many options and the prices are pretty decent! The restaurant is clean and lots of parking, which is a plus in my book. Check it out!

I went here over the weekend with family and was expecting decent food and crappy service as the location in Deerfield/Lincolnshire shut down due to lack of staff. However, I was pleasantly surprised as the food and service was quite good. I ordered the Sweet Basil Favorite Crepes with bananas, strawberries, and pecans. I decided to removed the pecans (ick!) and ordered the sausage links well done, and hashbrowns (not well done). The crepes were nicely sweetened but not overwhelming and the fruit was fresh. The sausages were perfectly well done and the hash browns were good and not too oily. Our server was attentive providing refills and clearing plates. There clearly isn't a server issue here. We had a nice private table despite not having a full restaurant. Another person ordered the same main entree as I did. She thought it came with whipped cream and they immediately brough out two bowls with whipped for us both. Everyone else got omelets and they were huge with a ton of their selected ingredients mixed in. Sweet Basil did not skimp on the add-ons. Some got toast and some got the pancakes as the side carb. The pancakes were as big as the plates themselves and were a "short stack" of two cakes. No one finished their omelets and sides. Everything was cooked to each person's liking. I never really thought about coming to Skokie for breakfast as we are about 20 minutes away, but I'm definitely going back.

Sweet Basil Cafe in Skokie is excellent!!! Their omelets and pancakes are stand out! Their pancakes are plate size with a perfect crust and soft fluffiness in the middle! Their omelets have generous ingredients. Our family met there for breakfast with a group of 8 and the service was fantastic and food excellent! The location is quiet with ample easy parking given the hotel in which it's located. One of the best breakfast options in the area! Highly recommend!

Service: We we're seated immediately, at a table by the window which had not been cleaned. When asked, an employee cleaned it. Then, a rushed waiter came over with a second man, and took our order. All pretty quickly, however it's been 10 minutes and no creamer or sugar for coffee, but he brought pre-packaged syrup in the small cups. Still waiting for cream and sugar... 20 mins and finally got it when the food was delivered.Strawberry crepes 3 stars. Not sure if all the crepe batter is cinnamon? The whip cream was in a separate bowl, strawberries just slides on top not within.Nutella crepes 3 stars. Hash browns - 2 stars . soggy no crunch.2 eggs over easy - 1 star no flavor Sausages - 4 starsBiscuits and gravy - 5 starsFrench toast - 3 stars
