We love Mago, and have been many times with a great experience, however this visit left us disappointed and frustrated. Our waiter took a very long time taking orders and then delivering food. It almost felt as if he forgot to put it in. He offered my husband to sample the mole before placing his dinner order, but then never came back. The rest of the table's food arrived and my husband's order had yet to be put in. I was halfway through my meal when he then delivered my steak knife, drinks were left empty, and he did not check on us throughout the meal. There was no manger check in (despite the big order issue) nor an apology. If this was our first time at Mago we absolutely wouldn't be returning. Was very disappointed with service.

This my first time coming to the restaurant since being diagnosed with celiac. The menu had a lot of GF options. I was informed the chips and salsa were GF. I was able to order the same items I normally would minus dessert. The service was great! I felt safe with the food and would definitely come back.

We've been loyal Mago fans for many years now. We've ad larger parties here, holiday brunches, birthdays, etc. However the last 3 times we've visited, the food quality has seemed to have been on a steady decline. Not sure if there's been a chef change or new kitchen staff, but food was generally average. Service was great, which helped, but last night, for the first time, we truly left disappointed. Chipotle mashed were heavily salted, Al Pastor taco was cold and bland, as well as they were covered in onions, despite no mention of onions on the menu - while other taco listings mentioned they were topped with onions. Picadillo Empanadas, something that used to be incredible, was fairly disappointing, too. The Queso Al Horno con rajas was good, though. Tampiqueña used to be amazing, and skillet was consistently hot. Flavor has been mid and lukewarm warm skillet the last couple of times I ordered it. Opted to not order it last night, thankfully, the table next to me ordered one and it didn't look great. Hacienda Real in Geneva has dethroned Mago as the new go-to when we want a nice Mexican dinner with ambience and flavor. Their Carne Asada is exponentially better than Mago's now. Sad to say this, but it will be a while before we come back.

Love Mago! Individual tacos reign supreme. Carne Asada - Chicken Tinga - Shrimp were all amazing. Had the table side freshly made guac - outstanding! Only downside to the food were the rice & beans. Rice tasted more like canned tomatoes were used, which was really surprising to us as everything else at Mago is always so fresh and made from scratch. Service was also outstanding. We'll definitely be back - highly recommend!

Arrived before full party and we were basically ignored at the bar. Service was slow overall. The amount of protein in the fajitas was laughable. Sides like rice and beans were ice cold. There is better Mexican food in strip malls, which is a compliment to the strip mall spots and not an insult. To say this place is coasting is an understatement, won't go back to this location, wrote off the AH location years ago.

The experience overall was very good. We were sat at a high table by the bar. The table was quite small and uncomfortable. It made it difficult to enjoy and share apps because we constantly had to shuffle everything around to make room. The service was good and the food came out pretty fast. The pairing of some of the sides with the meals was odd (mashed potatoes with a tampiqueña) but overall the taste was very flavorful. The margarita flight was very good and I thought it was a great value. Will come back again, hope we get sat at a better table!

We left very disappointed. The food came out cold and way too salty. Service was slow from the start—it took a long time just to get waters after sitting down—and while our waitress was nice, the overall service was just bad. We specifically came on a Thursday night for the live mariachi band that was advertised from 6–9pm on their website, but there was no music at all. We won't be back and definitely do not recommend it. If you're solely looking for drinks & guac this may work for you.

Great Mexican restaurant. Quality food and good service. Prices are moderate. I have been here several times over the years.

Mago is an excellent place to go for high quality Mexican food and excellent service. We are there at least once a month.

Our 5th time here and always the best, cocktails, service and food are superb. Thank you to everyone at the restaurant!

The food was really salty. It was hard to enjoy a special occasion because the food was just not good. Service was nice but it did not make up for the poor food.

We have eaten at Mago many times over the course of the past 7ish years and it feels like a steady decline is happening at this location. We had a 7:30 pm reservation, waited for our table about 15 minutes. Between the time we were seated and finally got our beverages almost 45 minutes passed. We received the tableside guac we had ordered, but we're given no chips nor the salsa that goes with it. That was an incremental ask together with the water. Drink reorders took a really long time. They ran out of certain tequilas and the server who was waiting on us had no idea about tequilas; apparently could not tell a blanco from a reposado. The entrees were very meh and just overall the experience was disappointing. Likely our last time there.

Unfortunately not as good as usual. Slow service and food was so so. Hoping for a better experience next time!
