The two women who served us were fun and friendly. I said to one that I was very interested in the Shrimp and Gouda Grits but I wasn't much of a fan of shrimp. She said the grits were the best thing on the menu! She suggested that she could substitute chicken sausage for the shrimp, so we did. It was great.

We ordered snow crab legs; they were excellent. Service was slow because there was a crowd (as we checked out, we learned that the cashier had been called in to help with the crowd). The staff was as attentive as time permitted and I would still go back because of the quality of the food.

Always great food and service here. Their gumbo is legendary. Very cool restaurant and atmosphere as well.

There was a wide array of food choices. The service was great and the food was good. The location is in the heart of the Capital District a few blocks away from the State Capitol. I would recommend this restaurant for this those in this area or in my case a special trip from Peoria.

Our waiter was amazing and anticipated our ever need. He was very personal and knowledgeable on what we may like too do in the area. We loved him. Thank you

Small cozy place, great specials, our server was fabulous, food was delicious. Prices have gone up obviously, thanks inflation, but not unreasonable. We will definitely be back.

The "bag" shrimp was so good!! This is a hidden gem in Springfield!! Stopped in for a drink and had dinner......will be back!!

Glad I found this place on yelp. Walked a couple of extra blocks from my hotel for something different with understanding that New Orleans style cooking in Springfield Illinois would be subpar. Very happy to have been wrong! I can't speak for the entire menu but the cornbread salad was interesting and enjoyable and their version of one of my favorite all-time dishes, shrimp and grits, was excellent. However they seasoned the shrimp, they nailed it and I wanted more. Great balance and good portion size made the meal perfect for me. Other patrons seemed to be enjoying their experience as well. Staff was engaged and super friendly, and obvious fans of what they were serving up. Great Job! Check this place out!

This time I only had the catfish basket with garlic fries. Fish was well cooked (fried) and the fries were a bit on the overcooked side (but I actually like it that way). Very garlicy and very tasty!Only main complaints (and reason for the 3 stars , not 5) were I didn't get enough tartar sauce (they make their own) and they were out of my favorite beer - had no beer on tap! Had no Guiness! ...and ran out of my second choice beer as well... And it was a Friday and not even evening yet!

Absolutely delicious! I had the crawfish etoufee and my husband had the gumbo. The cornbread is to die for. The service was super friendly as well.

Best food I have in a while. My husband said it’s made red lobster look like McDonald’s. The wait was a little but well worth it for the food you can’t rush perfection so waiting isn’t an issue not everything can be out in two minutes and it shouldn’t be like that any way. Nicole was the only server there and she was amazing. Every dish they had coming out made us want to order more. I got the bag (crab legs clams and shrimp and no they don’t skimp on them I was pleasantly surprised at the amount in the bag)and my s/o got the fried lobster both were amazing and the fried alligator bites . We have dubbed this place our place meaning this is where we are going for our date nights when we can get away from the kids. If the owners read this Nicole and I’m sorry I didn’t get the two cooks names but they all need raises. They had food going out at good times ( kitchen was on point and it was busy) and Nicole was doing an amazing job and being the only one serving she stayed on top of all her tables. This is a must go to place in my opinion. We will be back for sure and can’t wait to try out some other dishes.

Nice people, but overall just slow poor service which seems to be the norm these post covid days. I've been here twice and have tried several different dishes, here's my review of the dishes I've shared. Gumbo, small portion with not many shrimp, flavor was just meh. Shrimp and grits, average but wouldn't recommend. Shrimp poor boy said crusty French bread, it was a bun and no big deal. Etouffee, average at best. Seafood bag boil, enjoyed it but prefer other places in town better. Basically there are other places in town that taste better for the same items and better service.

This is a very strange place. But in their defense we did go at a very off time in the afternoon. The food was great. I had fish tacos I think, and love them. The other meal was very appreciated and delicious. But when we arrived there was no one to be found and we thought maybe they weren't serving even though there was a welcoming sandwich sign in front that said they were open. Finally someone appeared and it seemed she'd begrudgingly told us to sit anywhere. She called from the far side of the restaurant to ask what we wanted to drink. Later she called from far away to ask if we were ready to order. I felt like we were really imposing on her by coming into eat there. I suspect their real income is from evening and the gaming room. And bar. Perhaps if you go at lunch time or in the evening you will have a great experience.

They need to learn basic customer service skills like greeting customers, providing utensils, not serving others who came in afterwards before others who were already there, providing reasonable updates one why the food is taking so dang long, putting more pep in your step when more people are there, apologizing for the hour+ long wait for some gumbo, etc. I have a lot of sympathy for being understaffed and give a lot of leeway to places for this, but daaaaaaamn this place is hands-down the worst service I’ve had in Springfield. I gave them two previous chances, and gave passes both times, but this last time makes it officially BAD. Do better, be better!

Extremely unprofessional and slow. I sat for almost TWO hours waiting on three freaking tacos and they wouldn’t even comp A 5 dollar drink. The table next to me waited an hour and a half for their food only for it to be COLD. Complains about being understaffed but Treats employees very poorly and don’t pay them on time. The food was EXTREMELY UNDERWHELMING. Both Owners have a history of being rude… WOULDN’T recommend unless you want to be overcharged for mediocre food.
