First time visiting from Chicago and I must say Carters did not disappoint. The cat fish strips were fried to perfection. I also had the fried green tomatoes which were also perfectly fried. I thought it would be a lil more sweet but it was still good. Wish the tomatoes came with some type of sauce. I also wasn’t a fan of the hot sauce but if I’m ever in Springfield again Carters is a must.
So incredibly happy there is a location right in my town!! We have gotten food numerous times and every time is always incredible!! Perfectly fried without being greasy and all the sides are to die for! You seriously can’t pick a bad one! Great portions, good prices! Super satisfied every time!

( outside, like a food truck,) & ate outside on picnic table ( they do alot of carry out). I had walleye, hubby had catfish fillets....rolled in a cornmeal breading..cooked perfectly...not greasy...not too salty..very generous portions for only $10...we were very impressed!!! Its not much to look at...but don't let that fool/ stop you! ( Glad we stopped as we were driving home from st louis.)
