Fun Route 66 diner. Don’t expect anything fancy, but a fun quick stop. Had the signature corn dog plus tater tots, but there are other sandwich options, plus many different sides. Lots of nostalgic items & Route 66 memorabilia. Gift shop & tshirts, etc.

What a nice roadfood experience. A cozy dog is fried on a stick but I went with a chili dog which I really enjoyed. Their homecut French fries were amazing and I even enjoyed the bean soup! The place is very cute inside and has lots of Route 66 memorabilia with plenty of seating. The staff was friendly. Worth a stop!

We love it. Mood is super cozy, stylish, beautiful and serves a delicious corn dog. It's famous on Route 66 and compulsory stop in Springfield, even for those just passing by. Quick service, on-site parking and easy access.

While in Springfield, Illinois for the Mother Road Route 66 car show, we tried to do everything along Route 66 including Cozy Dog Drive In. It is a classic diner and it could be really great. Mr. Bee had the hot dog, and I chose a diner classic, grilled cheese. The hot dog was good and fine. My grilled cheese was a typical diner sandwich. It was toasted and crunchy on the outside and the cheese was perfectly melted. The onion rings were nothing special, more like frozen and fried. It was nostalgic to eat lunch here, and fun to see the memorabilia. Where it could be great, we walked up to the counter to order and the young man who took our order didn't want to be there. He was not friendly, not a smile or a thank you. The tables had not been wiped down, so we chose the least sticky one of them we could find. I expect more for places along Route 66. Make it a fun and memorable experience, and this was not that. We did have other great spots along the way.

We love historic eats and locally owned mom and pop joints like this one. Places like these are the backbone of what makes our country great. Cozy Dog Drive In had been on our must try list for a while, and we’re so glad we finally made it. After all, how could we pass up the chance to try “the original hot dog on a stick”?
The place was buzzing with activity when we arrived. We lucked out and snagged the last available booth during the lunch rush. We ordered the Cozy Basket, which comes with four Cozy Dogs and a generous family-size serving of fries. Our total was $17.58 – Pro tip: They give you a 3% discount if you pay with cash.
What makes this place special is that they still use the original batter recipe developed by the founder back in 1946. The difference between a corn dog and a Cozy Dog? These are made fresh to order! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, with just a hint of sweetness in the breading—absolutely delicious. The fries were just as tasty.
All in all, it was a true All-American meal in a nostalgic, one-of-a-kind setting. Definitely worth the stop!

A long-time staple on Route 66 with indoor seating. They were very busy when we visited. The corn dog and hamburger we had were good. The fries were a little on the greasy side for my tastes.

Cozy dogs were delicious and freshly made. My order was ready very quickly! Remember to pay with cash to receive a discount. Friendly employees and store owners. Beautifully decorated interior. Would love to go back if I ever visit Springfield again.
