I have very fond memories of Joe's over the years - even driving by brings a smile to my face. So the nostalgia coupled with the amazing pizza brings it to 5 stars for me. The service is hit-or-miss depending on who helps you but its really never been the friendliest place to order from. Always a great pizza. Carry out (pickup, they bring it to your car) only so the atmosphere is as good as your vehicle. They are busy so be prepared to dial their number frequently but the pizza is worth any wait you may have.
In an earlier time I would have given all 5 stars. I hadn't been to Joe's Pizza for several months and was looking forward to the savory pizza Springfield has come to depend upon for many years. Should I say decades?When I arrived to pick up my order I was surprised to find a locked door. The dining room was dark but the kitchen lights were on. I waved to a cook who came to the door, unlocked it, and handed me the pizza.They're evidently going through some transition....
