The food is excellent, although overpriced. I just got here at 9:15 and was told they're only serving cold sandwiches because they turned the grill off at 9:30. It was 9:15. If you're open until 10:00 you should serve food on your menu until 10:00.

First off, there was really nothing wrong with the food. It was tasty, as it should be. There was nothing to really distinguish it from any other sandwich shop, but it certainly wasn't bad. The place itself was clean, so I had no problem with that.
The employees certainly could have done a better job. Maybe I got there at the wrong time - it was after lunch, and maybe they'd been having a rough go of it. Still, there seemed to be no attempt at all to be pleasant or welcoming. No sooner had I walked in the door than the guy that takes the orders just starts rapidly firing off questions at me - despite the fact that I'm clearly looking over the menu and trying to decide what to order. I ordered my lunch then made my way toward the cash register, having to walk around another guy who was stocking the shelves with bags of potato chips in the process. This guy just looked at me, and made no effort to move or even acknowledge my existence, despite the fact that he was blocking 3/4 of the aisle and I had to make my way around him somehow.
The guy at the register simply barked the total of my order at me, then literally snatched the money out of my hand when I went to hand it to him. After pretty much shoving my change back at me, he just walked away.
As I said, maybe it was just a really bad day. But sandwich shops are everywhere, and experiences like this sure don't make me want to go back to this one.

Food came hot and fresh. I had the steak sandwhich. The steak had zero flavor.
Also, when I walk into your restaurant and the entire floor is sticky, I automatically think your establishment is gross.

Bring your pillow while waiting for your sandwich. Nobody here at 8pm and its been 20 minutes to make a cold classic Italian.
I have always loved Penn Station. After moving to Dallas, where there are no locations, I make it a point to get a Penn Station sandwich every time I visit central Illinois. Unfortunately, today’s experience was extremely disappointing.
I went in and ordered a Philly Cheesesteak, asking for everything except pizza sauce—just like I always do. Instead of simply taking the order, the employee ( his name was Eagan) kept repeatedly questioning me in an impatient, condescending tone: “Do you want this? Do you want that?” I clarified again: everything but pizza sauce.
Not only was he rude and dismissive, but when I explained that this is how I always order my sandwich with no issues, he responded in a nasty, arrogant tone, telling me, “Nothing comes on that sandwich but cheese and meat—that’s why I’m asking.”
I would have walked out if I didn’t love Penn Station sandwiches so much. That said, after today’s experience, I will never return to this location. Customer service matters, and today it was completely unacceptable.

Since their tap to pay never works half the time I go here to see about getting lunch over last 3 months it’s still broken! Nor do they offer Apple Pay etc. Can’t service folks if they can’t order!!!
Rude employees. Food was good but Christian is so rude I can’t even understand how he has a job
I love Penn station. I have been to many stores. Excellent food and service. This store sucks. Bad management. Slow, unclean and burnt food. I asked the manager about my burnt to a crisp fries and he said that's just how they come out. I made hand cut fries for Cozy Dog for 7 years. That isn't how they come out , unless something is wrong.

Order with the Springfield Il. store placed at 11:19 am. delivered 1:03 pm. sandwich and fries cold. Can't rate the atmosphere since order was for delivery. Order delivery time was changed 3 times.
The sandwich was ok, not eastcoast, but ok. Fries were horrible and burned. I will never go there again.
Fries cold and hard!! Sandwiches had no flavor. NOT like it used to be. Smh!!
