The food is fine, assuming you never see the kitchen or how it's prepared. The service could be better but they can't keep servers so that's to be expected. The atmosphere of the old Carriage Co building is terrific, as is its proximity to the Lincoln house site, and is initially what led me to seek a job here. However, after several weeks of seeing basic health code being ignored, staff quiting, and having to track down the owner to get schedules made, I decided to walk away. The owner is new, but has no clue what he is doing. Dishes are always dirty, cross contamination of raw meats and veggies happens, the sanitizer sink has a hole in it and is never used, he pays less than minimum wage and under the table, the problems are endless. If he got a kitchen manager that actually cared and stepped aside it might be okay but i expect this place will not stay under his ownership for long and I would avoid the place until it's sold to someone that cares.

Fantastic place to eat. Totally recommend. The Frisco melt was super good and the horse she was awesome. We got sweet potato fries and it came with marshmallow dip, yummy!!!
We got to sit outside on the porch on a lovely evening. Just perfect. Amy was our waitress and was super helpful.

Hello, we were visiting Springfield and decided to go to your place to eat Sunday morning. First the establishment only had one waiter, which was not enough. He was running around but he needed help. He brought me my coffee, no spoon and no creamer and I had to get up to ask for it before my coffee got cold and I had to ask for a refill. Then we placed our order I told him I was allergic to fish, my throat swells. He said eat nothing on the grill , so I ordered the French toast. We we waited and he brought out food to the table next to us and my son said hey I think that's our food and it was. The waiter said "Oh I messed up." So we waited some more. Then when the food came out I asked did you grill the bread on my French toast? and he said "Oh I forgot." If I would have ate that I would have died so good thing I asked. He did not offer me anything else to eat and he charged our ticket for the French toast. I think he should have offered to take it off and I know he was going to throw it away and I cannot see wasting food so we boxed up our meals and left. He also could have toasted the French toast or pan toasted the bread, something and if your a good establishment you will accommodate your customers allergies. I WILL NEVER EAT OR RECOMEND YOUR ESTABLISHMENT TO ANYONE. !!!

Place has gone down hill ever since it changed ownership been only a couple of times since the change don't really see myself going back
porch.
The service was fantastic. Karen and Nathan N were super attentive, funny, friendly, welcoming, and professional.
The food was delicious. My son and I had eggs benedict, the hollandaise sauce was the right balance of creamy, light, and buttery.
One of our teens had The Cowboy, a great combination of meats and cheeses. The other teen had the strawberry stuffed french toast, a delicious not too sweet treat. Also delicious were The Poneyshoe, and a stack of pancakes.
The adults share 2 flights of mimosas, light, cocktails on this beautiful late morning.
When I Springfield do not miss this place, totally worth the stop

My wife and I walked across Springfield Carriage Co. while we were exploring the Lincoln historical site. I was starving. I would have eaten anything. We walked and were welcomed warmly. Our server, sorry I forgot her name but just ask her if she remembers the English guy with the funky shirt. I ordered my first pony shoe. It was delicious. And the restaurant itself was well decorated and beautifully preserved. Such a good lunch for my wife and I. We’ll come back soon. We live in Chicago. But we’ll be back. Thank you Springfield Carriage Co.

This restaurant is very well located by the Lincoln House and it is in a nice historic house.
But...
While we were waiting to be seated I wanted to see a menu before deciding if we were going to eat there. There was an empty table that had menus on it, I took one and started reading it, one of the I suppose owners (male) approached me and snatched it from my hands, yelled at me for taking the menu of a reserved table (I did not know it was a reserved table), placed that menu back on the table and handed me another menu, all while mumbling insults towards me under his breath. I was shocked, as I turned to my husband to let him know that we were leaving another lady with her family who had walked in behind us picked up a menu form that same table and this man did exactly the same thing to her!!!
The restaurant was not busy, maybe they were short staffed, but that does not justify his reactions, because of his rudeness two families and possible customers walked out of his restaurant, I can think of a dozen different ways he could have handled this situation without being ill-mannered, impolite and a terrible restauranteur.

This place is horrible the chicken was way past over done dry as heck I think they likely served us yesterday's chicken strips reheated all day long on a heat lamp. Also the ranch dressing has no taste it tasted like milk and mayo with out the ranch spices. I would avoid this place.

Springfield Carriage Co. Where a horseshoe is actually a horseshoe. No price gouging, no skimping on the fries or the meat. Delicious, fresh cut fries and homemade cheese sauce. Thank you! We will be back for more.

Cold food was served at restaurant to my daughter. She asked me to try a bite and it was cold. we asked them to reheat. still cold. I told the owner she did not eat it because it was cold. He was adamant it was hot. Im 47, I know what cold mashed potatoes are. I told him I would pay for it, but I would not return. He just didnt say anything and wouldnt respond. so I said it again, I will pay for it but I wont be back again. He just charged me the full amount and I left a tip and left.
The skillets are the bomb. Sat outside but waitress wasn’t the most attentive

Walked in from out of town and this was the first place we came to. Said we’d have an hour and 20 minute wait for food, plenty of people seated around but none had food nor could we smell food. When asked for a recommendation somewhere else the woman half heartedly suggested obed and Issac’s but said the food was not as good. Went to overs and got seated right away and food took no time at all and was delicious. Go to obed and Isaac’s.
