The food was unique and delicious! I got there right at 3 so I was able to try something from both the lunch and dinner menu. And the carrot salad they serve with pita bread is better than one might expect. Highly recommend!

Fast service, hot food! I had the chicken doner plate- really tasty. My husband had the chicken guvak- it came out piping hot. They warned him it would be spicy, but he said it wasn’t hot spicy, just flavorful. The 3 kids split the mixed grill and we took home leftovers. They are usually pretty picky- they all enjoyed it!I didn’t love the tvs in the restaurant, but that just my personal preference.

Great food -- the hummus and baba ghanoush are top notch! The service is also very friendly and welcoming. On my last visit I left my phone behind, and it was there waiting for me the next morning, no problem.

I recently had dinner at Ugly Restaurant and Bar, a Turkish grill that really impressed me with its food, though there are a few things that could be improved. The Iskender Kabob was the standout of the night, with perfectly tender meat, rich tomato sauce, and buttery bread that made the whole dish come together beautifully. I also tried the Adana Kabob, which had a nice spicy kick and was just as delicious. They even have some Arabic dishes like baba ghanoush and falafel, which adds a bit of variety. That said, the restaurant felt a little understaffed, so service was slower than I’d hoped, and the furniture could definitely use an upgrade—it felt a bit too basic for a place serving such great food. It’s also on the expensive side compared to other places around, but honestly, the quality of the food makes it worth it. Despite the small issues, I left feeling really satisfied and would happily come back just for the food.

We just stopped for the first time today and had lunch. I had a burger that was very good and the french fries were good, although not very warm. My wife had the doner chicken and rice and it was delicious. The only reason I did not put 4 star overall was because of the tables. read further

Regarding the atmosphere. We tried finding a decent table which I thought would be easy because there was only one other table taken. None of the tables are stable. Also, they make a lot of noise. As a group, this has to be the cheapest worst tables I have ever seen in a restaurant.

The front door has a sign that says push hard. That is necessary!

Don’t be scared by the name of the restaurant….The service was excellent and the food is even better. The beef Shish Kabob was the best meat dish I have ever tasted. It was absolutely amazing…better than any steak I have ever had. Highly recommend…

I recently dined at Ugly Restaurant and Bar in Springfield, IL, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Tried the Lamb Chops and Grilled Wings, and both dishes were excellent. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was comfortable. I’d definitely recommend giving their lamb chops and chicken wings a try if you’re in the area!

Ugly this place is NOT! Here’s the only question I have about this fabulous establishment: Why. The heck. Are the lines not OUT THE DOOR? The food is… COMPLETELY. UNIFORMLY. ALWAYS fantastic. I cannot gush enough about the guvec, beef and chicken. One's a little spicy one’s a little less so; I never remember which is which but just ask the phenomenal waitress there and you CANNOT go wrong with either. The owners are kind and the restaurant has comfortable seating and you can literally park right in front and stroll in.

The bread you get at the beginning and the little dip is fantastic. I was in town from New York/New Jersey for just a couple of days and having eaten here once I made a point of coming back - gotta get both Guvecs. And the lamb chops. If I lived anywhere nearby I would eat here a MINIMUM of twice a week. Everything ordered from there was majorly well-made, delicious and worth any penny that you spend. This is by far and away the BEST food in the area and the lovely person that we had – I cannot believe I’m blanking on her name – as a wait person was just sweet as sugar and charming. Seriously. Give. This. Place. A try! This is NOT an "okay" restaurant: it is DESTINATION DELICIOUS.
