Absolutely loved my visit to Brown Butter Café & Bakery! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly. I tried their OG Brown Butter Donuts—gluten-free, nut-free, and soy-free—and they were moist and flavorful. The breakfast burrito was hearty and delicious, and the Signature Brown Butter Frappe was a delightful treat. It's clear they put a lot of care into accommodating dietary needs without compromising on taste. A must-visit spot in downtown St. Charles!

Brown Butter Baked Goods and Cafe is pure comfort. The moment you walk in, it smells like fresh pastries and warmth. Their baked goods are unreal — rich, buttery, and clearly made with love. I tried one of their signature scones and a latte, and both were perfect. The vibe is calm and charming, like the kind of place you’d go to slow down and treat yourself. Friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and truly delicious food — what more could you ask for?

Delicious, hot breakfast burrito!

This place is delicious!! (And adorable). The lemon donuts are especially tasty, and the coffee is good & strong. Two suggestions I would have is to replace the peanut butter powder in the protein shake with pea protein powder, whey protein powder or sunbutter and replace the nuts on the oatmeal with sunflower/pumpkin seeds - that way they would be 100% nut free and would not have to worry about cross contact. I love that the donuts are safe for allergies! :)

The coffee tastes sour and the food was way wierd

I just stopped in to pick up a couple pastries for someone with a gluten allergy. It was my first time coming here and the people working were super friendly and helpful. I wasn't sure what to get and was told all their pastries were gluten free which made me happy because there were a bunch of options! They also let me sample one which was so kind of them. I told them it wasn't going to be for me, but they insisted and were confident their food was good, which I admire. I will say, it was one of the best if not THE best donut I've ever had...and it was gluten free! It was soft, fresh, melt in your mouth, and sweet but not overly so. This place is the real deal and the people are great. Thank you!

All their donuts 🍩 are super yummy! Definitely fresh!

Visited a few times but I won’t go back now. I don’t believe in tipping for counter service, so I am certain I did not add a 15% tip. Yet my credit card was charged as if I had. Shame on whoever the cashier was on Saturday. This is unacceptable.

I love having coffee and breakfast here, especially in the summer when you can enjoy the patio. The staff remembers your name, and they're always quick to smile. I love the Avocado toast and the breakfast burrito. They also have a lot of freshly baked sweet treats.

Pretty nice little cafe, though quite expensive. Got 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches and pur bill was $55. Quite excessive. Probably won't be returning due to the cost. The food was absolutely delicious and the coffees were made perfectly. The women behind the counter were friendly and inviting.
