I’ve been here about 15 times because my family loves half priced sushi roll night. The service is great, the ambiance is really nice, and we always have a good time. I get cooked food, and every single dish I’ve had is excessively salty. I sent my dish back once, but every other time, I’ve put up with it. Save money and use less salt, I beg of you! 😂

I dined here frequently but this Tuesday’s experience really soured the establishment for me. 3 stars and not 1 because in the past the staff and experience had been great. This Tuesday, we showed up with a stroller and our toddler, as we did many times before. This time however we were met with an older frazzled lady who assessed our parenting/dining decision as “silly” in a croaking voice and with the attitude to match. Her communication skills and patience were non existent which I quickly came to realize. She croaked at us to follow one of the hostesses to get seated (outside in 94 F). The upsetting part wasn’t the seating arrangement though. It was what she said and also how she said it. Needless to say, we went to another restaurant downtown. “Alter” was very busy and yet, staff were friendly and food delicious.

We really like this place, especially their staff and happy hour specials. Our last visit, however, we were greeted by an unhappy middle-aged woman who clarified our seating reservations. She said if we sat in the main dining room, we would be unable to order the happy hour specials—they are only available at the bar and outside. She then abruptly tried to show me on the menu/reservation area that it was CLEARLY written there. I asked her if this was a new policy since we have never been told that before. She responded very smugly, “no, we just accommodated you”. If we didn’t have guests with us, my husband and I would have left since she was so rude. Thankfully, all of the other staff were wonderful.

Sat at the bar, took 10 minutes to get a beer and place a Togo order. Took an hour for the Togo order of 4 rolls. Bartender gave patrons wrong tabs. Didn’t ring things in right. And bartender never even came by again after he took my order. Finished my 1 beer and it sat empty for another 35 minutes. Never offered another drink or water. Hire more people. Brutal today

It is our fourth wedding anniversary, and I had marked in our reservation notes it was our anniversary. The food was excellent as it always is, the service was awful. We waited 5-10 minutes for our server to even greet us. Then we waited 20-25 minutes for our drinks, and who knows how long they sat there. We waited almost an hour for our food, on account of I’d bet literally anything our server forgot to put our food in. We ordered a sushi boat, meaning we had 4 sushi rolls. I have ordered from here plenty of times and know it does not take 45 minutes for 4 rolls of sushi to be made, especially not at 7pm on a Monday night. He didn’t deliver our drinks, nor did he deliver our food. I genuinely regret not moving to the bar top as I suggested to my husband after waiting 30 minutes for drinks to touch our table. I asked the hostess, she said he was new and apologized, but I’m incredibly disappointed with our experience on our wedding anniversary… He was incredibly quick to grab the check and run our payment, though. Hardly any wait on that. I’m sad… we have three kids and don’t get to go out often and it was a bad experience.

I've been trying to get to this spot for a year, finally. The atmosphere is nice and upscale. The staff is professional and prompt. Now, to the food, there is plenty to choose from on the menu. I'm a fan of small plates, so I will order all of them, and that's exactly what I did. The food was awesome. Every dish came out had its own personality and very delicious. Make sure you order the tempura cauliflower. WOW 👌 also make sure you order the Moto Imoto sushi delicious. I don't drink alcohol so they have moxtails which are non alcoholic called Blue Berry Ginger Breeze it was so refreshing. I definitely recommend this establishment if you're in the area.
