Shima’s is one of my all-time favorite restaurants in the US, a true hidden gem for the Chicagoland area. The sushi is top notch quality, and the hot menu items are always fresh and delicious.

It’s always a wonderful experience to arrive at this place. At Shima’s Sushi they have people that will make you fall in love with the place, exceptional hospitality, and that it’s only a group of 3 4 people. It’s wonderful food that is always very and of true quality. Their extreme love for the customers makes it just a joy to go out and enjoy food at this place. The cordial people make the experience of maybe tying something “new” almost seem like a normal experience. For everyone of every age to try this. Wonderful work shima’s sushi!

This is my favorite restaurant full stop. The quality and quantity of the sushi received is absolutely unmatched at this price point. Expect a little wait when things are busy, but it is absolutely worth it. My favorite is the Susan's roll.

The food has a weird taste, fish did not seem fresh. We had 6 different rolls and all were not good. Even had a large order of combination fried rice and that even had a funny taste to it. I would not go back. We had a party of 5 and all were very disappointed. I can’t understand why so many 5 stars?

Shimas is amazing. We love it. Kids love it. Shima and all the employees are so great. Even though we don't go as often as we would like, they still recognize us every time we come in. Great selection of roll options. Get the tempura fried Oreos at the end.

Absolutely amazing! We normally get this once a month if we can. I had to finally write a review because it’s such a hidden gem. Ask for extra teriyaki sauce if you get the chicken teriyaki dinner as they don’t give enough IMO. Everything is always so good every time. Dinner comes with a salad, rice, and California rolls and it’s so good!

Shima's Sushi is my absolute favorite hole-in-the-wall restaraunt. I have been coming here since 2011. I am always satisfied with the food.I see a few complaints about lack of door service. As a semi-regular for 13+ years, I have always just sat down at the sushi bar or a table, Shima will always notice you and someone will come for your order.I judge an establishment on the quality of the food and the ambiance / comfort I feel. Shima's Sushi feels like walking into a friend's house for a meal-- it's so casual you can just walk in and sit where you want. You're not bothered every 5 minutes to see how you like everything, you just order and enjoy the experience. And when you're ready to pay, I just ask for the bill and go up front to pay. And give my thanks to an always-smiling Shima before I go!Our favorites: edamame, miso soup, the specialty sushi rolls (sunset, black dragon, anything with tempura crumbs!!) and the deep fried rolls. Mochi ice cream balls are delicious.Hubby approves the spicy seafood soup.Kids approve the chicken nuggets.

We ordered $55 dollars worth of take out from this place last night. The sushi stinks…when I mean stinks I mean ACTUALLY smells. The fish mix they use in their rolls was rancid. I would have gotten food poisoning if I ate it. We had to throw it all out! What a waste! Please be careful when ordering/dining here

Absolutely amazing restaurant. The menu is huge, the atmosphere is very nice, service was fast (although we were the only ones there), the food tastes great, and its also not very expensive. Basic Sushi rolls are 4 for $3 and they are huge, and most appetizers are around $4.
