I don’t normally leave reviews unless something blows me away and unfortunately my experience here did not. In fact you could say it tied bricks to my ankles and threw me in the river. I came here once before and food and service was ok but today it’s was abysmal. We were seated by the brick wall and understandably it’s cold outside and it’s an exterior wall it might be a little chilly where we were seated but there’s no reason we should have to keep our winter jackets on inside to stay warm while eating. That being said the only thing colder than we were was the food we were served! I got the nasty skillet and toast and the only thing in it even slightly warm were the hash browns. The other person at my table got an omelette with grits and toast the omelette was luke warm and that might even be a stretch to say. Neither of our toast ,if you can even call it that, was toasted it looked like regular old bread that they made warm by setting it on top of an overheating computer. I kept my toast on the opposite side of the table from the wall hoping what little warmth it had would stay in tact as our waiter went to get the butter and jam for it. It did not as it took him 10 minutes after he said he was going to get it to make eye contact with us again before he remembered he in fact said he was going to do that. By the time it came the butter wouldn’t even melt it was just cold buttered bread. We told our waiter our concerns and he said sorry set the bill down and walked away. We went to pay and spoke to the manager who wouldn’t even look us in the eye as he mumbled he would “make it right”. I would hardly call the insulting $5 off he gave us making it right. Unless you enjoy wasting your money just to have to microwave your breakfast at home I’d find somewhere else to go.
Before heading out of town I like to have a big family breakfast with my children and their families. The Southern Cafe is always accommodating to our family size, staff is great with the kiddos and the food is so inventful and delicious. I would give it 10 stars if I could.
Kid-friendliness: Very friendly staff to the littles.

Our server was great, but we found a hair on our plate of steak. Unfortunately we didn’t notice it until it was too late especially since it blended into the juices, but I almost threw up knowing that hair was in it.
Darshna only provided a 10% discount and said “we’ll do better next time”. There won’t be a next time. I do not recommend.
Our server was very kind though. I liked her.

This is the perfect place for a girl's brunch or just to meet and enjoy great food.
Are here during the weekday so it was not too busy.
Service was quick a tentative and worked really hard.
Food was excellent with fantastic portions and beautiful presentations. The biscuits themselves could be their own meal definitely make sure you try at least one! I love that they serve them with apple butter as well as other toppings.
Great mimosa and coffee menu don't sleep on this this would also be a really good place to host any type of shower or event!!
This is a definite must visit for the St Charles area!

I love meeting my girlfriend here for breakfast. This time I tried the Dang Burger. It was amazing. We sat there forever commiserating about our husbands and our grown children.

Restaurant is very big and well kept. The greeter was really nice! The food overall was delicious and huge portion size that couldn’t finish it. Lots of items in the menu. They also have seasonal food which is lovely.

In the area and looking for somewhere to eat lunch and saw this spot. It was a Friday the 13th surprise. Prompt service seated quickly. Large menu and something for everybody. We both had the Catfish. Food was excellent from soup to salad to main course. And their cornbread with honey butter was the best I have ever had. Highly recommend. Lucky day. Will be back when in the area. Thanks for a good experience.
