As someone who grew up going to the former location of Colonial Cafe, my opinions on Syrup in St. Charles had been reserved for quite some time. I’ve been many times since their opening, and I’ve been impressed with the quality of the food. Although nothing outside the box, their menu has many tried and true options, ranging from the millionaire’s bacon to some classic benedicts.
I only have one complaint about this location, and It’s not at fault of the staff: the volume. Due to the remodeling that took place, it’s hard to find a seating location in the resturaunt where it would be easy to have a conversation with those around you. Even on a slow day, noise was measured in excess of 95 decibles, which is a bit much. This could absolutely be just my own personal experience, and is nothing more than a small facet of a more-enjoyable larger picture.

20$ for a skillet and you hardly get any of the good stuff. The potatoes are absolutely huge and dominate the majority of the skillets. Little amounts of meat.

Celeste was awesome today, managing multiple tables and having a great attitude. She was lovely to talk to, I LOVE the food here every time I come. It’s always great! I can’t wait to come by and see her again I really hope she’s my waiter for next time! I hope her supervisor sees this and gives her the recognition she deserves!
