I am extremely confused as this food has literally no flavor. I am a first time customer and ordered through Uber eats, uber would not refund me although I did call the restaurant and they told me they would credit my Uber eats account. I am extremely disappointed as I waited an hour for this food to arrive for my birthday dinner, only to try everything I ordered and be shocked with how bland the food was. I have never had a Chinese food that is so bland in my life.. literally no flavor.. I don’t get how this could even happen..

I went here for the first time and absolutely loved the food! Agustin (Goody) was our server and he was so sweet! Also met the owner Nancy on our wait out and she was the kindest lady! Our starters were the crab ragoons and they were perfect! My friends and I shared the mangolian beef, green beans, and chicken fried rice. The portions and quality were great at a very reasonable price. I can’t believe I didn’t know this place existed, I’ll definitely be coming back! 10/10 experience!

I’m so concerned about this restaurant. I ordered for takeout and the only good thing I had was the eggrolls. The hot and sour soup had zero taste. The Empress chicken was five little pieces of chicken with a whole bunch of broccoli and a lot of sauce. The chicken fried rice was rice seasoned stuffed into into a container with six pieces of chicken on top. I was just really disappointed. The restaurant has been around since I was a little kid and I’ve got fond memories of going there with my family. I just don’t know what changed.

I’ve followed Nancy since she ran a restaurant in Geneva called Absolutely Chinese, I believe. I like her and I like her food. For many years, my favorite meal in St Charles, was the wonderful lunch buffet, which, unfortunately, was a victim of covid.
For some reason, we just didn’t go. Not sure why. We decided to make it one of our Christmas spots this year. Everything was great - food and service. Our tastes in Chinese food is very simple. We had sweet and sour shrimp (no sauce), pork fried rice, crab rangoon and egg drop soup. We’ll probably have the same thing next time, even though several things on the menu were very tempting.
It was nice to be able to “go back” and not be disappointed. Thanks, Nancy!

Flew in from TX and had dinner here with family. Nancy, the owner, treated us very well. Her hospitality was above and beyond!Everything was perfect! Food and drinks were tasty. We had a nice quiet dinner. Restaurant wasn't loud at all, very relaxing vibes. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in town. Please support small business if you get the chance to!

Wonderful experience last night! We dined here after the Arcada. Crab rangoon was delicious; mongolian beef and beef with green pepper was also very tender - no knife needed. Mai tais were delightful. We will definitely be back;)

The Chef has mastered the process of providing great food with a healthy cooking process resulting in fresh crisp vegetables and distinctive flavors. We are awaiting the opportunity to dine in to gain the full experience of the St. Charles Gem. The owner was very hospitable, greeted guests and invited us to dine in for the full experience. If take out remained crisp, palatable and fresh for a 30 minute drive home, just imagine dine in!!
Service is amazing and the restaurant is very clean. Food portions are large and delicious. Will definitely be back.

I read quite a few of the previous reviews and decided on trying the crab rangoon as suggested by others. It was good, very creamy center and a lot more crispy texture. Egg roll was okay, but I liked the crisp of the cabbage.

Delivery orders come VERY fresh and hot. The hosts are also very attentive and generous if you ever wander into the bar. A St. Charles staple!

I ordered online sweet and sour chicken with 2 egg rolls. I received 2egg rolls which were good. And a box of shrimp and a bowl of sweet and sour sauce. The shrimp was very bland. I took one bite and discarded. I will say my DoorDash delivery was excellent. I did call and stated what I received and was polite about it. In return I received a “Sorry”.
Spent over $30 to eat and had two egg rolls for dinner, not a very good deal.
