“We attended a thank you dinner at the Effingham Event Center as volunteers with over 100 others. It was catered by Niemerg's Restaurant which is always great. They honored most everyone with small gifts.My wife and I volunteer at Enduring Freedom Ministries in Shumway. As a Master Mason our group volunteers for the blood drive held at the Event Center. I've done it the last two times. Several Masons from our lodge volunteered to install the youth reading stations at Lake Sara. We will finish the project in the spring. There are 25 stations for kids to read books which can be changed. It is in cooperation with the Effingham Public Library. At the end they will walk one quarter mile.My wife made 135 Christmas stockings for FISH to give to nursing home, assisted living, or hospital patients. They filled each with personal hygiene items, activity books, candy,etc. We love doing stuff like this by giving back to the community.“

I was pleasantly surprised to find such an inclusive establishment along my walk to DeKalb.Had planned to sleep on the roof, but couldn't get comfortable, so a truck driver offered me a ride. Well, it was the middle of the night when the beer and popcorn farts hit and they tossed me out of the semi.... Are there mountains in Illinois????? I have NO IDEA where I am at!!!“

“Our family and friends were here yesterday, Sunday, to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday and our 55th wedding anniversary. The food and service were great. We really appreciated the thoughtfulness the staff showed us with a long table so we could all sit together. The staff was great at the bar, and Mark was very helpful answering any questions we had. Great place for a wedding reception!“
