The food was good, but the service let us down. There was no proper welcoming ,it doesn’t seem like they even care to welcome anyone. He simply took the order and that was it. No greeting, no real interaction. Even though the food was good, this kind of attitude makes us not want to return.

By far the best Indian food I've eaten in a long time. Delicious I vegetarian out and this was so much food on their platter they give for lunch for about 17 bucks. Took about half home they kept bringing out things to us. Such a great experience.

Forget the atmosphere, forget that parking is not the best because, the food.. the food is fabulous!! Go at lunch and get their specials. It is a deliciously diverse well made selection of their most popular dishes. Wonderful!

I recently visited Madras Kafe in Vernon Hills for lunch and opted for both their vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali offerings. Each thali was generously portioned, providing a delightful array of flavors that truly captured the essence of South Indian cuisine. The variety and taste of the dishes made for a satisfying and hearty meal.

To complement the meal, I ordered their filter coffee, which was aromatic and robust, reminiscent of the traditional brews found in India. However, I believe the experience could be further enhanced if they served the coffee in traditional Indian filter coffee cups, adding an authentic touch to the presentation.

Overall, Madras Kafe offers a commendable dining experience with its flavorful dishes and warm ambiance. I look forward to returning and hope to see the addition of traditional coffee cups in the future.

Madras Kafe is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with the warmth and hospitality of Aunty, the incredibly talented owner. She treats every guest like family and it shows in the care and passion she puts into her cooking.

The food is authentic, flavorful, and prepared with recipes that clearly come from the heart. Every dish feels freshly made with the perfect blend of spices – true homestyle South Indian/North Indian/Veg/Non Veg/Snacks/Chaats- cooking that’s both comforting and delicious. And the best part? The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions you get.

We also had the chance to try their catering service, and it was nothing short of amazing. The food was plentiful, beautifully presented, and a huge hit with all of our guests. Aunty personally makes sure everything is just right, which makes the whole experience even more special.

If you’re looking for genuine Indian flavors, a friendly atmosphere, and someone who truly cares about making people happy through food, Madras Kafe is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Food was amazing!! Loved having South Indian food that tasted authentic and not Americanized. Cant wait to come back to Chicago just to eat here.

Poor service. The food was terrible. I ordered chicken Tikka masala and buttered chicken. I drove 35 min to get home and eat it with my husband. It was a total disappointment. The chicken Tikka was really tough and seemed unevenly cooked- a litte raw on some of the chicken pieces. I swear, there was a hair in the sauce, too. I ordered a Chai tea and that was also terrible. I also ordered some Naan bread. That was probably the only decent thing I ate. The Chai tea got tossed down the drain. Both meals were thrown away. I just burned a little over $50 and I'm still hungry because we felt like if we ate it, we'd be sick- it didnt taste good at all. Also, while I was waiting for my food to be prepared, there was a young woman (family member I'm assuming) of the owner who was coughing profusely. There was no consideration for anyone- she just kept coughing and coughing. I finally decided to step outside in the freezing cold just to wait for my food to be ready as I do not want to get myself or anyone else sick. It was such a lack of respect and poor restaurant ethics. I will never return to that restaurant.

I had a wonderful experience at this place.The food here is absolutely delicious!what stood out to me the most was the ambur goat biryani and Hyd chicken biryani.The food was delicious and staff is also very friendly and accomodating.Highly recommend for anyone craving southindian cuisine
